that cabin scene with mike and will on the upside down couch is one of those moments where the form is louder than the dialogue. everything about it is constructed, not in a heavy handed way, but in that quiet, deliberate, “we know exactly what we’re doing” way that good cinematography uses to smuggle emotional truth past the script.
the overturned couch already tells you the world is wrong. domestic space is literally inverted, safety flipped on its head. and in the middle of that disorientation, the camera tucks mike and will into this intimate two shot that shrinks what is happening around them into background texture. the frame becomes a bubble, a confession booth, a moment carved out of chaos where the emotional stakes can finally breathe.
and then there’s the light. that single ray landing on will like the universe is pointing at him. that’s not incidental. that’s motivated lighting used as narrative emphasis, the visual equivalent of underlining his emotional importance. your eye goes to him first because the scene wants you to. he becomes the illuminated centre of gravity, the character the moment is orbiting.
but the thing that really detonates the whole scene is the mirroring. both of them sitting on that overturned couch with their legs crossed in the exact same direction, bodies angled inward, postures echoing each other. that’s classic film grammar for emotional alignment, the subconscious syncing of two characters who are moving toward the same internal truth. mirroring is intimacy. mirroring is connection. mirroring is the body saying what the dialogue refuses to articulate.
and then mike leans in. his whole body oriented toward will, knees, torso, gaze all pulled in the same direction. the shoulder grab isn’t casual; it’s instinctive, grounding, almost desperate. it’s the kind of touch you choreograph because it needs to read as involuntary, like his hand moved before he had time to think. and the camera doesn’t cut away. it holds, letting the silence thicken, letting the proximity and the light and the mirrored posture stack until the subtext is practically vibrating.
so what was it all for. why flip the couch, isolate them in a two shot, spotlight will, angle mike toward him, choreograph the mirroring, and let the shoulder grab land like a confession if none of it is meant to mean anything. you don’t block characters like that by accident. you don’t mirror them like that by accident. you don’t build a frame that intimate, that symmetrical, that emotionally loaded unless you’re telling the audience, quietly but unmistakably, this is the relationship you should be watching.
I drank too much redbull and I made a cool drawing of my alt wizard. I get inspired by listening to certain music and I was listening to the JSR ost and it gave me an idea.
Probably would have done some shading but I have no clue on how to do shading correctly so you get flat colors.
Pspsps Speedart for you people who like watching me do art
You know, I think I could see Starshield listening to Hideki Naganuma while questing.

surgery romance
Does anyone else think that missing nin wearing a slashed hitai-ate is weird? It is like a giant ‘if lost return to ______ for cash reward’ sign. If someone wants to sell my dead body, they should at least have to do some homework to profit.
One random night, I decided to try figuring out my design for Two Time(mainly cause I couldn't bring myself to sleep and was bored). Took me 3 hours on this one thing while even using mirror tool to make things quick since it was night, might never draw them again-
Also for some reason, the part where I colored the bit for the wings was glitched and didn't show for some reason
