“You could still be a good person.”
“How can I be a good person, when I can’t even be a good father?” He asked, staring his son straight into the eyes, hands on his shoulders.
Maybe breaking out of prison was too extreme, but it had to be done. He had to see him. His son. His only son. The son he had disowned. The son he hadn’t listened to. The son he dragged into this life of crime.
He had endangered his son beforehand by doing so, but he was too blind to realize that in the moment. He was too focused on the riches, the lifestyle, the thrill of a life of crime. He would argue that he did it all for Johnny, but, in reality, he did it for himself. He knew that now, and there was no changing that.
But, seeing his son on the screen, singing his heart out, sparked something inside, and he made the blackout decision. Because, he had to see Johnny, and he had to make things right.
He loved his son more than anything, and now he had to let him know that.
