Happy #InternationalWomensDay . . . For this years International Women’s Day I wanted to recreate the iconic Votes for Women Poster that became an emblem of the Suffragette movement here in the UK. As a woman, the suffragettes always are a poignant reminder of the strength and resilience of women. These women battled arduously for years from 1903 until around 1918 to get women the right to have the vote and thus a more equal place in society. It took persistence and determination but eventually they made progress. Even when they succeeded only certain women who were of a certain age or who owner property were permitted the right to vote. But it was a start! You may say they were the catalyst that ignited the flames in many women both in the UK and internationally who knew they deserved more from society to push boundaries and make change. To all my sisters reading this post, you are all wonderful people. You have the potential to do whatever you set your mind to. I’m not saying it will be easy, but you will get there. The Suffragettes teach us all that not everything comes quickly, but if you are persistent enough they will happen in the end. I would also like to take the time to acknowledge the brave women of Ukraine who are fighting for their country, saving lives and doing everything they can to in this crisis. These women are true heroes who I send all my love and strength to right now. So remember ladies when you go out today hold your head up high and be proud to be you. . . .
