it started out this morning when i overslept, because my alarms didn't go off. my body woke me up in time to rush to school early enough to make my first class, but i was still late to school. i use my phone as an alarm clock, but when i woke up randomly, it was off. plugged in, but off. i plugged it in before bed and it was charging as normal, making sure all my alarms were set before drifting off, but now it won't turn back on. we tried it on Guardian's charger which works fine and my phone didn't react at all to that either. usually there is an icon that pops up even when it's off to say it's charging. it must be a software problem again even though they updated my operating system when i took it in last week to be fixed. seriously LG? this is the 3rd time in the last month, and i bought the phone exactly one year ago. guess who will be making another trip to the Service Center today.
this also creates another problem: i need to buy a new alarm clock so this doesn't happen again. but what alarm clock do i buy? i need one that can set multiple alarms, and is really loud, because i am a really heavy sleeper. i set 15-20 alarms on my phone every morning for work in order to get myself up, and i have nothing but apologies to my future spawn and the trouble this will cause them [i once slept through a fire alarm in my dorm in university]. all the alarm clocks i see around Korea are the cutesy ones at stationary stores that are the old school ringing type you can only set for one alarm, and seem like they will break easily. need to figure that one out.
Coteach was understanding thank God, cuz it was out of my hands and she saw how upset and freaked out i was, but the P.E. teacher decided to be a complete jerk at lunch for no apparent reason. he shares an office with Coteach, the same office that i have to get the key to my room from when i arrive in the morning. he was the only one there to see me run and get my key and sprint up the stairs afterwards. no one at school really likes him, he is a know-it-all and whenever we go on a school outing he likes to brag about what he knows and point out this plant species and that plant species. he always tries to speak to me in English which seemed like a nice gesture at first, before i realized it was to try and show off in front of the other teachers. he can't really speak English actually, i have a really difficult time understanding anything he says but i try to be nice, smile, and humor him.
well lo and behold, when i am sitting in small lounge where all the non-homeroom teachers eat lunch, he sits down next to me and says "ALEX, WHY WERE YOU LATE??" smiling smugly. all the other teachers fall silent and i look up at Coteach who had a look of complete horror on her face. i told him my alarm clock was broken, but the damage was done, as i am pretty sure he didn't have a clue what i said, just chuckling to himself, and the other teachers couldn't understand a thing, just that he said i was late today. i was so angry. what was the purpose of his behavior except to publicly humiliate me? well nice job dude, it worked.
then, i talked to Guardian after lunch about needing to request to leave early to get my phone fixed again, since the LG Service Center closes at 4:00. he called the principal who seemed wary when i needed to get my phone fixed and leave early one day during English camp. she said no, to go after school. i said i can't because they close at 4:00. Guardian calls her back and relays the info, to which the principal straight up says, she thinks i'm lying, to call the Service Center. so he does. and guess what time they close today? 6:00. when did they change their hours? last year it was definitely 4:00, as i made the mistake of going after school once before. so now the principal probably does think i'm a liar. i just hope she hasn't shaken Guardian's confidence in me as well.
on a good note, Coteach planned to call my new school today and ask if i could move in early so i can stay in a heated room before the end of my contract, since my boiler is still broken. i doubt it, but i am really appreciative of her kindness.
