Hey I just wanted to say that I really admire your Mami cosplay! It's beautiful. ;A; I'm actually in the process of making one too, but it's the first cosplay I've sewn myself and was wondering if you had any tips for the skirt? I'm nervous about it
The skirt was probably the easiest part of the cosplay, not gonna lie. I dunno if you saw my FAQ for the costume itself, but basically what I did was make a basic circle skirt with an elastic waistband, then added another circle skirt of tulle with horsehair braid sewn on the hem to go underneath, which gives a nice amount of poof. My one suggestion would be to maybe add either more horsehair braid on the hem of the outer circle skirt as well OR add a sort of extra ruffle on the tulle underskirt to give it just a bit more volume. I hope that helps! If you have any other question, my FAQ is here:Ā http://missfirestarter.tumblr.com/post/43550543758/big-ol-mami-write-up-faq, and feel free to message me again if you need anything else!
why is vacuum forming so scary I'm such a wimp when it comes to certain things about props but GUHHHHHH trying to figure out Sophitia's Shield is giving me the most hardcore headache.Ā
WELP. Looks like I'll be getting my Nathan pants and my chest binder in today, but my wig won't be here till Monday. SAD FACE.
People saying I'm their Mami headcanon just makes me want to curl up in a ball and smile really hard simultaneously because Mami is the costume I am the most proud of and she's my waifu for a reason and augh I just love her so much and it makes me so happy people compare me to her dsifshgldjkfghd

FIGHTIN' WITCHES TO GET BITCHES

Got back some pictures from the only photoshoot I did at Katsu (but man did it turn out cool ;33333). POP POP POP MAKE THEM WITCHES DROP.Ā
Rachel's Intermittant Creeper Shaming :D
Since apparently I not only have a well-deserved reputation for being a feminist bitch and a creeper shamer, here's your week's fill of creepers being obnoxious on the Internet. HOORAY.Ā
This is the person who chose to comment on my picture because he felt I didn't have a right to ask people not to comment solely on my boobs on Deviantart (which, of all my Nami pictures, is Mugiwara Lyfe... Okay):Ā
He is rocking a RAD "One Wolf Howling At The Moon" shirt. However, as much as he thinks me showing my cleavage and asking people not to comment on it is problem, he has absolutely no issue objectifying other women and making comments about their appearances:
The beauty of hypocrisy. :3
However, the message above is not where it ends. Mr. GoldenFenrir decided to seek out my Facebook page, and send the following message:
This was my response:Ā
No, you didn't ask a perfectly reasonable question. That's the kicker. You informed me that I should cosplay a different version of Nami if I didn't want people just to notice me "for my boobs". Nope. That's not how it works. I both have the right to choose the cosplays I do AND the right to be upset by the response it gets and request that people not be creepy about it, because that's how being a person works. You have absolutely no idea how it feels to constantly get bombarded with people making creepy comments on my cosplays that I did not deserve or ask for. As I said before, you and others make the choice to write out comments and even say such things to my face, and that is what is wrong with this entire situation. I shouldn't have to deal with the attention that I get, but guess what, I do anyways, and I handle it in the ways I choose, which include protesting the way you are speaking to me and trying to censor me.
Also, you tried to make the excuse that you ādidnāt thinkā I would receive the same amount of attention if Iād done a less revealing version of Nami. Guess what? I did Boa Hancock, also from One Piece, and got an incredibly similar reaction (albeit on a much smaller scale), AND SHE WEARS EVEN MORE CLOTHES. I also happen to cosplay Mami Tomoe from Madoka Magica, and guess what? PEOPLE ARE STILL CREEPY ABOUT MY BOOBS. IN A COMPLETELY COVERED UP SHIRT. NO CLEAVAGE, NO NOTHING. So your āsolutionā is completely and utterly wrong. As long as I have breasts, I will get skeeved on, because our society is really fucked up. And any time I or any other female cosplayer show any amount of cleavage, we get negative attention. It doesnāt matter how much clothing you wear, it happens, always. Thatās the constant struggle of female cosplayers, and itās something that makes me so incredibly angry yet hopeful, because I know itās possible for the community and the world to change. And that is why I continue to do what I do and cosplay what I like, because I have that right.
And yes, you were and ARE STILL slut-shaming. It's called "You shouldn't wear [BLANK] if you don't want [BLANK] attention". That right there is included in the definition of slut-shaming and victim-blaming, because you're saying I am deserving of the negative attention I am receiving, even if you never flat out called me a āslutā. I quote "If you don't want people to look at your boobs ,don't show them to everyone." Your words, I'm not putting them in your mouth. I can wear Nami, and I should not have to deal with creeps. And guess what?Ā My "excuse" of choosing to do Nami's Timeskip outfit because I liked her long hair and the general design AND THE FACT THAT MY THEN BOYFRIEND AND CLOSE FRIEND WANTED TO DO THAT VERSION ARE COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE. Fuck you too, dude. You're literally making no sense. I didn't choose this outfit because it was revealing or wasn't, I chose it because it was my favorite of Namiās outfits, and in my naivety I didnāt think itād create such a stupid problem. Also, guess what? Way back in March 2012, the only version of Nami with long hair was Fishmen Island. I didn't just make this costume brosky, and I haven't worn it for a year. Wanna know why? Because the attention this outfit got from the Internet absolutely terrified me and was incredibly overwhelming at the time. I had to take a break from wearing a cosplay of my favorite character because for a while, I didnāt know what to do with the negative and gross attention. But you know what? Iām older now, and I have stopped caring about the fact that people are creepy, because now Iām confident enough to lash right back and stand up for myself and my choices. You might think you were just an innocent bystander in all of this, but youāre not. YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
NEWSFLASH, female cosplayers don't just do certain cosplays for attention, THEY ACTUALLY JUST STRAIGHT UP LIKE THE CHARACTERS THAT THEY COSPLAY.
I think the thing that blows my mind so completely is the fact that you donāt think you were being rude. Yes, you were being rude. You have absolutely no right to tell me what I should and shouldnāt cosplay, and what I should and shouldnāt expect from wearing such cosplay. Thatās incredibly fucked up.Ā And nope, Iām not just taking my anger out on you. You just have the honor of being the first person to actually say this bullshit to my face instead of hiding behind an anonymous mask, and this is my response. Your logic is bullshit. Your attempts to make me feel bad about my body and my cosplay choices are bullshit. I will continue to do the characters I like because I like them, and still chew out people who perv on me, because unfortunately thatās how life works, and I will continue trying to combat this bullshit for as long as I am a part of this community. Once again, enjoy the banhammer, and have fun wearing your incredibly fashionable One Wolf shirt and howling at the moon. Iāll be living my life, being proud of my body and my cosplays, and you can kindly shove it. Any attempts to try to contact me again in any way will be met by instant and permanent banning. Fuck you :D
I am sick and tired of the way females in this hobby are treated. Only a few months ago the wonderful Sarah FongĀ had to deal with this crock of bullshitĀ because she, like many other lady cosplayers, like to wear a variety of costumes, some sexy, some not. And this is far from the only instance of this bullshit being pulled. I know I've been posting about this kind of stuff a bit more regularly than I used to, but now I'm more self-confident and less wiling to put up with stuff like this, so if you don't like it, there's a lovely little UNFOLLOW button right by my name. Please and thank you :3
Crown Princess -Ā Parasoul

One of the reasons I love Skullgirls so much is the huge variety in female characters that are included. You have characters like Parasoul who have a shorter waist and long-ass legs (...me) and then there's Miss Fortune who's built as hell and super tall with smaller boobs. /Also the gameplay is awesome and doable for a pleb like meĀ
