So, the Cosplays/bigger costumes I’ve finished in 2017, there’s been a lot of ups and downs and I don’t think my cosplays done as much developing as last year but I feel as if I’ve spent a lot trying to figure out myself if nothing else, and this year has gone way faster than the last one

Some thoughts and reflections about the year bellow the cut
Started off the year a bit weak with Anthony Hope from Sweeney Todd, wasn’t super stoked or happy with it, but was mainly to join a group with it so fuck it
Followed up with Zer0, which was back then was a fucking nightmare but now looking back maybe didn’t turn out as bad as I thought it did, Zer0 however did make me reconsidering the way I cosplay a bit, and to attempt to only focus on cosplays I 100% want to do
The pictures are a bit missleading here due to sizing but after that was the Fallout Synth, made it in just a few days, mainly to get to be on stage and earn myself a free ticket to the swedish championship, very cheap, very simple, and I’m pretty pleased with it
Next up was Nux, and I was so excited for it, I worked for month, and had been excited since the day I saw the movie, borrowed my friend (who cosplays Mad Max’s jacket) but in the end I really wasn’t feeling it at all, the scar shirt turned out weird, it was warm, and just a low point, might redo it sometime in the future, might not
Then we had my 2 big costumes of the summer + my bonus cosplay of Spiderman
Max, my postap larp outfit where I decided to work in metal for the first time and the whaler, all in all I’m happy with both, there were some issues with them, for example should have made Max dirtier and the pants more durable (they got torn the fuck up, used a lot of ducttape to just hold them together during the larp haha)
As for the whaler, well I knew I could do better and it was a more of prototype, and I’m already going all out fixing it up for next year
As for spiderman this costume is just 10/10, I loved working on it, I’m happy with it despite it having a few flaws, it’s great to wear, and just love it to death
My plans for next year are still pretty open, I’ve decided to not put anything into stone but just see how it goes, currently there’s some plans for dnd characters (both my own, Taz, and CR), Whaler of course, and the rest we’ll just have to see, have a few I want to do, but depends a bit on what my friends want to do as well, and how the competion with the whaler goes, we’ll just have to see!

Time to start summing up my cosplays of 2017! Thought I would start with those I have re-worn and given more love to.
I was pleased to wear my Burlesque Elsa for another Disney Princess Alternative Cosplay shoot in March and I was so pleased with the results! Here’s to hoping I can wear her again next year for another brilliant DPAC shoot and we’ll have an even bigger group of awesome cosplayers to shoot with.
Wearing Dio in May I got the best response and pictures ever - people really loved my Dio! It probably helped that I hung around for most of the day with The One Dude on Fire and we got the sickest stand and stand master shots ever. Hopefully in 2018 we’ll even get an out of con shoot organised to get even more great photos.
The same weekend in May and then again in October I rewore Ann, because it’s surprisingly one of my most comfortable cosplays and I really love wearing her. One day I may organise a P5 shoot, and honestly it’d be so great to do a big shoot with a whole Phantom Thief crew!
Elizabeth got some much needed love and attention as I upgraded most of her for a shoot in July and honestly it was so worth it! That new wig alone brought the cosplay up a whole other level, but with the new boots, gloves and compendium (thanks to Sciffer Arts for making the PDF for it!) I finally have the best Elizabeth I could probably get.
And finally Juliet, who I’d only worn for one day previously, came out for a photoshoot with Klick Klick Photography and we got some great results back. One day maybe I’ll even do a proper cheer shoot with her!
I hope a year never goes by where I don’t rewear any of my cosplays, as I love all of them so much! I have a lot of new plans for 2018, but hopefully some of these will make an appearance yet again.
These five are the bigger, ‘main’ cosplays I’ve done this year and I’m super proud of every single one of them!
Sailor Dio I made to wear on a whim at the very start of the year out of the left over material I had from regular part 3 Dio. Despite having no idea what I was doing it turned out alright in the end and I was especially proud of the bows I made for it!
Bunny Raven I made for the DC Cosplay Bunnies UK group for May MCM. There was actually far more pieces to make than I had considered, from the cape and red/gold belt and accessories to the tail and the ears. It took longer than I had expected but turned out better than I ever could have hoped. I also had a fantastic day with the girls around con and really enjoyed the opportunity to cosplay with them.
My main ‘armour’ cosplay of the year was Ice Dragon Elsa for the fantasy shoot with Disney Princess Alternative Cosplay. Whilst the wings were kind of a pain I was so happy with how it all came together and I really hope I get a chance next year to bring it out again, and maybe even have more sister awesomeness with Kessho-Cho Cosplay who made a really great Knight Anna.
By far my most challenging build of the year was Belladonna from Persona 2. This was the largest and most complex sewing project I’ve ever done. It’s the first dress I have ever made, and everything except the side seams were sewn by hand as I was too scared of ruining the fabric to put it all through my machine. Dragonswann Designs amazing butterfly for the front really set it off though, and along with the beast of a wig I managed to pull off a cosplay I’ve literally never seen anyone do before (yay for niche cosplays!).
Finally there’s my Quidditch Merida, a cosplay I put together for the DPAC Harry Potter shoot. The amazing robe was made by Patchwork Poppy’s Bespoke Costumes and it is one of my favourite cosplay items I’ve ever owned! I sewed together the arm pads over a few nights before the shoot (nothing like leaving everything to the last minute!) and repainted a green rounders bat to work as a beaters bat. Also shout out to The Cross Eyed Cat Wand Makers for making such a perfect wand to go along with this cosplay too. Quidditch Merida is now pretty much my most comfortable cosplay and I cannot wait to wear it again next year as (in case you couldn’t tell by this point) I really love being Merida!
I love every single one of the cosplays I’ve done this year. I really enjoyed putting every single one together and I’m so proud of the skills I’ve gained making different parts of each of them. Hopefully next year I keep on progressing and have even more cosplays I can be proud of!
Current plans for 2017: (a list that just keeps growing and changing since I probably don’t have time for all of them)
Most (100% unless something DRASTIC happens)
Zer0 (Borderlands)
Anthony Hope (Sweeney Todd movie version)
Rewear of Bertram Tung (might do a slight update if I have time)
Fallout 4 Synth
Armored Felix (RvB)
Cosplays I want to do but are a bit more unsure/not as motivated for/not sure if I have time for:
Roman Torchwick (RWBY)
Cutthroat (AC: Black Flag multiplayer for the summer IF I have time/group with me since I already started on it)
Corvo (Dishonored) I really really want to do it but it’s a bit more complicated costume so only if I find time during summer/possibly autum and depending on how the rest of the costumes go
Junkrat (Overwatch)
Nightclub Felix (RvB)
