my space setting is named cosmic catalyst ,
or coscat for short,
itās a world where the galaxies we live in are the slow turning gears to a dying universal machine. as the cells of the machine breaks down, the energy that is released (planetary plasma) is recorded to be a direct cause of evolution.
instead of letting theirs release slowly, the humans of earth developed a specialized drilling rig to mine this plasma from the surface of the earthās core, kickstarting a mass evolution in technology (and an early planetary collapse).
the two key developments from this found fuel are:
- body modifications, that vary from aiding people with disabilities to creating super heroes. the first generation of heroes were created in 1998, the last generation were born in 2065.
- interplanetary travel technology made massive leaps. planetary plasma was a type of fuel that allowed for safer launches because it wasnāt a combustible material. it was dubbed āleap fuelā after a test launch sent a robot-manned flight past mars.
iām not going to go too deep into the mechanics of either, but these advancements allowed for human colonization on mars by 2008. unfortunately since it was headed by america, it started militaristic.
iām not the biggest science fiction nerd, but iām starting to ease my way in. the best way i know how is to make characters for this world. āØ thankfully iām joined by my partner for it.

once an up and coming pilot for the milky way unitedās military, turned runaway space highway man after blowing up earthās moon accidentally.
his father was a famous astro-archeologist and was among the many people researching how long lost extraterrestrial civilizations worked with planetary plasma. clancyās mother is a star ship pilot for the milky way unitedās military, and her father is a general stationed on some other planet in the galaxy.
his persona is ākid djinnā
using body modifications he received , he channels fire through his body. an artificial vent attached to the small intestine siphons and digests carbohydrates. using an implant in the upper spine, a message is given to bone marrow to produce extra blood. this extra blood passes through an added chamber that turns it into planetary plasma.
carbohydrates + p-plasma are then bound in blood vessels whenever clancy activates the āturn on fireā command. the blue flames shooting out of the vents in his shoulders, biceps, and crown are a result of this.
due to the properties of the p-plasma, the fire is entirely under clancyās control. when asked about it, he feels like the fire is apart of him. shooting them off to him feels like clipping his nails or cutting his hair.
