I'm so sick of hearing talk about how corsets were "barbaric" and "uncomfortable". No. Tight-lacing, which was popular for a brief period of time out of the long history of corsets, was harmful. But corsets laced properly are actually better for your back/health than modern bras. They give better support too. I wish I could get corsets for everyday use that weren't priced like some damn luxury item. I know most of Tumblr already knows this but im just venting. It's so obnoxious. Ive had literal college professors shut down and refuse to look any deeper into history than "corsets bad because Hollywood says".
