//BLESS THIS POST. I have gotten shit for Lei being "too emotional" more than once in my time of RP'ing her on tumblr. Or that she's too touchy/feely, ect. So...bless this post. It's one reason I try to write a range of women with my group.

I mean, this kind of bullshit opinion is why there needs to be a Sansa Stark Defense League.  (Of which I am a member.)  Because ‘obviously’ the character who survived repeated emotional and physical abuse is ‘stupid’ and ‘weak’ while the girl who thinks killing will solve everything is the ‘strong’ female character.  Arya’s the ‘good’ sister because she’s ‘not like other girls’ - ‘other girls’ being her traditionally feminine sister and mother.

(It’s also why my favorite character of the four young mages in Tamora Pierce’s Emelan books is Sandry - the young noble woman who cares about fashion and looking good and whose magic comes through the media of needle and thread.  Tris is angry and cut off from people, Daja fights with a staff and smiths, and Rosethorn is snippy and holds herself aloof from anyone she doesn’t love.  But Sandry cares.  Sandry is emotional.  Sandry’s magic is inherently tied to the ‘feminine’ arts of weaving and needlecraft.  And none of that makes her weak.  She stands up to the head of a massive empire.  She rescues herself, or aids in rescuing herself.  She’s the one who wove the four mages’ magic into each other so they could save their lives.  She runs a duchy basically by herself.  She is incredible and she is soft and she is feminine and I love her so fucking much.)
