Finally realizing he needs to step in, Cole takes Zane’s hand and says, “Hey, where’s this coming from?”

“I- I apologize for my outburst. It’s just, after all of our training, we’re still...subpar.”

“Lloyd knows we’re coming for him this time.” - Cole

“Yeah, but Zane’s right. We’ve already tried this, and look what it got us. There’s gotta be a better way to find him.” - Jay

[The team stands there, unsure what to do for a minute.] That’s when Kai’s phone starts blowing up the way only a Green Ninja sighting can warrant. Sharing a look, everyone whips out their beautiful little pocket trackers at once and opens the Chirper storm.

“That’s him,” Jay cries. “That’s Lloyd!”

Yeah, Kai’s looking right at him. His little bro looks fine. Sure, instead of the big hero grin he usually puts on for the fans, he’s staring at the camera with eyes blown wide, dark ones as if he hasn’t slept in a week, but what else is new? More pics follow of him retreating down whatever street he’s on, like a snapshot film in motion, clutching his right arm close. He could be totally fine.

“So, how are you adjusting?”

“Fine. Thanks for asking.” Don’t.

“It is a genuine inquiry, Morro. Are the others treating you well?”

What kind of question is that? It’s been exactly how they’d treat any enemy they’ll never trust. Lloyd rarely lets him out of sight; Kai and Nya still shoot him glares any time they have to look at him. However, Cole and Zane have continued being the most cordial, and Jay, well, Morro isn’t sure what to make of the Lightning ninja. He never stays in one place for long. An enviable quality, truly.

The board of letters crackles, tingling on his fingertips as he taps out a search. He narrows his eyes at the sensation but shrugs to himself. Zane said the device is powered by electricity after all.

Skimming the list of current world affairs he's been combing through every day for a week, he retorts, “What is this? ‘You kids playing nice? Getting good grades?’ Really, Sensei.”

Taking the hit with grace, Wu glances down at his dumb little fob watch for the hundredth time. Morro doesn’t glance up from the computer screen he’s pointedly stuck his nose deeper in. The minute hand ticks away, and he clicks the touch-pad once to the next page, then again.

“Very well. I must be off.”

That was easy. “What, you’re going to be late for a doctor’s appointment or something?”

Wu hovers at the door, his hand trailing with its small, telltale sound down his beard. “An appointment, yes. With a doctor, no,” he answers in a snap, “but thank you for the concern. It is touching.”

"I—" Morro sputters, finally lifting his eyes to glare at the obnoxious old man. "Jeez, whatever. Just," he returns to the list, "be back soon."

It dawns on him what just left his mouth as it goes, and he rubs his eyes to pretend he doesn't see Wu's smile. It's the reading. Reading and staring at a square of light for hours is exhausting.

“I intend to,” Wu says on his way out, the familiar tinge of challenge in his voice.
