Synopsis: Father Mulcahy defies orders and goes to an aid station with Radar to collect a wounded soldier after a patient convinces him he needs to see the front for himself. Also, Frank performs surgery on a wounded mine-sniffing dog

In “Mulcahy’s War,” Hawk and Beej approach Sgt. Hodkey on the chopper. “My buddy’s much worse,” says the sergeant. “Please do a check on him, he saved my life!”

Cpl. Cupcake damaged his leg and paw when he tripped a landmine so that Hodkey wouldn’t walk into it. He is treated at the MASH, reluctantly, by Frank while most of the others look on in admiration. When Mulcahy comes into the O.R., he asks, “What denomination is he?”

“He’s a German Shepherd,” says Hawk. “I guess that makes him a Lutheran.”
