hand kisses (from Eugene for Rapunzel)

A smile curled on the blonde’s face as she felt her hand being taken. Her eyes are slow to open at feeling lips pressed to her knuckles with soft kisses. She’s just waking up from a nap. “Mm, hi,” she greeted quietly as she turned the taken hand over to cup Eugene’s face. Fingers caressed his cheek, her touch soft.

the cold of the floor seeps through the bottoms of rapunzel's slippers. she swears her footfalls are silent — a skill carried over from another time, another life — until she hears the queen's voice.

its tenderness can't dampen the horrible thrill that runs through her at being caught, and the surprise is readily apparent on her features.

" i'm sorry. " the apology spills from her before she can think twice. does she have to apologize here ? in her own home, to her own mother ? " i hope i didn't wake you too. "

fingers reach to remove her headdress as she works on rapunzel's gown for the event this evening, setting it off to the side for now to give her head a rest. it felt so restrictive and a little claustrophpbic especially for long hours of the day. a sigh is heaved as she continues to stitch the dress from where the other had ripped it when attempting to wear shoes.

her black hair ruffles out of her headdress as she removes it with a sigh. she knows she should be in there with the princess to watch over her but she needed a breather. too many people for her liking, and too much dancing for her taste. the other seemed to be having fun though which was good when it's usually not that way with all of her father's rules.

“what would I want your help for, anyways?” delivered in a snap, attempted to be played off as dismissive but too close to snarl in reality. it was easier when she was able to delegate work to others, to keep her hands clean if she can. there was still hope of this working if she played her cards right, though. so she purses her lips before forcing them into a blasé smile.

rapunzel . . . thinks this will work. there's nothing to say that it wouldn't, necessarily, but the whole operation takes a bit of faith between them. lantern - eyed and adventure - hearted, she has faith for miles.

it's enough to compensate for flynn rider.

she loops golden hair once, twice, three times around his palm. the strands turn pink with blood. she glances up at him one last time to assess his question, to gauge his skepticism.
