The day was cloudy only occasionally the suns would peak through the clouds It seemed the weather didn’t know if it should rain or shine, it’s confusion matched your own. Normally you could meditate and your anxieties would disappear, but this was different, this was Fives. 

You were assigned to assist the five hundred and first on a mission. Even though  you felt excited at seeing your friends again, there was a certain ARC trooper who you’d developed feelings for that was not exactly becoming of a Jedi. Fives was a great friend who you could talk to about anything and you two had a playful rivalry on the battlefield. You still remember the time you first met

*Flashback*

You walked onto the Venator, scanning the area for Captain Rex, but instead of the Captain you were greeted by an ARC Trooper. “General” He said with a salute. “Trooper” You acknowledged then noted the Rishi eel on his helmet and recalled the stories that Jesse and Kix had told you of their brother. “Are you Fives?” You asked. He laughed “Guilty as charged” He said and removed his helmet. Then you could see the unmistakable five on his temple. “Well that’s a giveaway” You said pointing to it and giving him a playful smile. Fives decided he liked you, and the natural mischievous glint in your eyes. “Let me take you to the General” Fives said. “Thank you,Fives” You said. Hearing you say his name caused his heart to skip a beat.

Later on the Gunship Fives stayed close to you. His helmet tilted in your direction as he watched you. “So, Fives, are you a good shot?” You asked with a challenging smile. “Probably better than you” Fives stated, a playful tone in his voice. “Fives” Rex chided. “No he’s fine” You told Rex then turned your attention back to Fives. “Since you’re so confident in your ability, ARC trooper, perhaps you’d like a little challenge” You said. “And what  might that be?” Fives questioned “I thought maybe we could see who could take out the most droids” you said. “Challenge accepted, General, I just hope you take defeat well” Fives smirked. “We’ll see about that” You smirked back. and your friendship was born.

*End of flashback*

Now, several months later, as you approach the hangar you notice Fives standing at the entrance waiting for you. Unable to help yourself you smile brightly and excited wave at him. Fives practically beams at you, waving back enthusiastically. “It’s good to see you, Fives” You say as you walk up to him. “You too, General” Fives says giving you a flirty smirk. ‘oh dear’ This ARC trooper was going to be the death of you. “Should we join the others?” You say, hoping to hide how flustered he makes you. Fives just nodded. 

As you gave the briefing Fives kept distracting you. Normally you loved the playful jabs and teasing smirks of his, but today you were very aware that he was too closely bordering along the lines of flirting. You tried to calm your mind to no avail. The other troopers noticed what was going on too and that worried you.

After the briefing, Fives walked up to you “I bet my squad can beat yours to the rendezvous point and take out more droids” He challenged. You were up to here with Fives and couldn’t stop yourself. “We’ll see about that” You challenged back, getting right in Fives face. Fives leaned in like he was about to kiss you, but caught himself in just enough time. You gasped, the air between you both thick with tension. You could feel his soft breath fanning your face. It felt like time stood still as you gazed into Fives’ hypnotizing eyes. It was so strange going from being frustrated at the handsome clone one moment then wanting to kis him more than anything in the galaxy the next. “Sorry” Fives apologized and then he waked away quickly, leaving you standing there more frustrated than ever.

When Fives joined his brothers they noticed he was acting unusually quiet. “What happened to you?” Hardcase asked. Kix elbowed his side and Jesse shushed Hardcaes. “You okay?” Echo asked Fives. “Yeah, lets go, boys” Fives said. They followed him without question. 

While things went smoothly for your squad, the same could not be said about Fives and the boys, they had taken some casualties, thankfully nothing too serious.  

Reaching the rendezvous point, you were greeted by Echo. Your heart dropped and your ears rang when you didn’t see Fives. Echo could see the terrified expression on your face. “Fives is alright, General. He just got a little banged up is all.” Echo told you, giving you a reassuring smile. You nodded to him. 

Walking towards the med tent your hands started to shake. You pace in front of the med tent, trying to work up the courage o face Fives. When Kix walked out of the med tent you asked him f you could see Fives. “Sure, General, but don’t let him get up, he needs rest”. KIx said You nodded in understanding then walked into the med tent. Fives cot was furthest from the entrance. Once you reached Fives cot you sat on a makeshift seat and softly called his name. “General” Fives beamed up at you. “How ya feelin’, Fives?” You asked, trying to give him a smile but failing as your voice wavered. “Eh, I’ll live, never known of anyone with my injuries dying yet.” He joked. “Well you better not die” You tried to joke back. “Why? would you miss me too much?” Fives teased. “Terribly” You replied honestly, voice trembling. He was shocked but pleased. Before he had a chance to say anything you spoke up “I should probably let you rest, it’s my fault you're in here anyway” “What? Why is it your fault?” he questioned. “Because I challenged you and as much fun as our games are, I couldn’t handle it if anything happened to you” You stated. “It wasn’t being challenged that distracted me, it’s ..” He trailed off. You knew what he was going to say, you’d always known , from the moment you met him- you belonged to each other. Sure it wasn’t actually destiny or fate, or even the Force. It was two souls who matched so perfectly, you completed and complimented each other in a way no one else ever could. “General, I think I’m in love with you” Fives said suddenly. There was a time when his words would have scared you but now all you felt was joy. “I know” You said. Fives raised an eyebrow at you and then you realized you hadn't told him you loved him back. You couldn’t help but laugh softly as you said “I’m sorry Fives, I love you too, I love you so much” You confessed. He grinned. “How are we going to make this work?” You asked. Fives just shrugged “Don’t know, but we will. I’m willing to fight for us. Are you?” he asked hopefully. “I am” You stated determined. Fives gazed up at you with heart eyes. You leaned down and kissed his forehead. “You missed” Fives said. “Did I?” you teased. “Yeah, you were aiming for my lips” He smirked. You chuckled and leaned in to kiss him, your lips met his in a soft and slow bliss. Fives kissed you back with a passion you weren't quite prepared for and it took everything in you not to melt into him completely. You had to pull out to catch your breath, Fives tried to follow you. “Huh-uh. You need to be resting” You told him, your voice a little shaky from the kiss you just shared. Fives pouted at you. “We can make up for lost time later.” You promised. He grinned real big at that. “Okay” he agreed, then asked “Will you stay with me for a little while?” “Of course” You promised.

Once Fives was better and everyone was back on the Venator, you stole Fives away from his brothers and led him to your room. Once the door slid shut, Fives shoved yo back against it, his lips moving insistently against yours. His hands fell to your hips and he pulled you flush against him. You combed your fingers through his hair and gently tugged, earing a dep groan from him that sent pleasant shivers all through you. Fives kissed along your jawline and down your neck. You gasped. The moment was interrupted by your comm going off. Fives growled. “I should get that” You spoke breathlessly. “I know” He said. You answered your comm and it was Captain Rex telling you you were needed on the bridge right away. You told him you’d be right there. “’Guess I better go” You said. Fives nodded “We’ll finish this later” He flirted, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. You couldn’t help but laugh at the silly ARC trooper, your silly ARC trooper. “ I look forward to it” You said happily and gave him one final kiss before heading up to the bridge. 

His eyes widen in confusion at your sudden vivacity. He looks as though he thinks you entirely barvy. You slip your fingers around his wrist to pull him closer, to position yourself into his arms.

He immediately stiffens. “Dance?” he replies in disbelief. You look up at him, and are greeted by the sight of that familiar, unamused grimace plastered across his features.

“Yes, dance,” you emphasise the word, then tighten your arms around his waist, pressing your face into his chest. You begin to sway. Well, you try to sway. He is solid and refuses to move.

He glowers down at you in bewilderment. “Do not be so ridiculous,” he scolds you quietly, though he does not attempt to remove you from him, or move himself away from your grasp.

Still, he is unrelenting in his sternness, and remains stiff as you try (and fail) to encourage his body to move with yours.

“Do not be so boring,” you chide him, rolling your eyes. He simply scowls down at you in reply. He remains unyielding, and you are clearly failing in your attempts at getting him to dance with you.

So you release him from your grip, stepping back to try to figure out what his problem is.

“What’s wrong?” You ask, crossing your arms. “Why don’t you want to dance with me?”

“This is ludicrous,” he mutters. “I do not dance.”

“Why not?”

“Because it is foolish. Pointless.”

“So? It’s fun!” You grin, opening your arms to him. When he stays still, you pout.

“Maul, this is my favourite song. Please.”

He releases a deep sigh. How do the tiniest, most inconsequential things get you so worked up? Why do you smile as wildly as a nexu over a stupid song playing on the subspace radio? He does not understand. But you look so adorable with your arms wide open for him, with that silly little pout on your lips – kriff, how can he possibly deny you any longer?

So with one last grumble, he moves forward into your arms. You take his hand and place it just above your waist, then rest yours on his shoulder.

He remains rigid, motionless. You cock up a brow at him.

“I do not…” he admits through gritted teeth, “I do not know how.”

“Okay, so let me show you,” you say, smiling, taking his free hand in your own. He finally relaxes slightly, allowing you to slowly move the both of you into a hesitant, affectionate dance.

“There is no wrong or right way,” you say, as the two of you move together in a circle around the small cockpit. “Just move with the music. With me.”

He eases into the dance gently, though is still frowning, (but when is he not?) as you both rock and sway together. You soon take the liberty of pulling back to throw your body around in a fancy spin. He staggers back in surprise at the twirl, and you laugh softly. He finally wipes the scowl off of his face to flash you a smirk, and he squeezes your hand. Then he pulls you closer, holding you tighter against his chest.

You both sway slowly and intimately. His glowing yellow eyes gaze into your own, and it does not take long for dancing with one another in this way to feel like the most natural thing in the universe.
