✨ It wasn’t until things started getting dangerous to get him to realize that he did trust you

✨ The child comes

✨ Oh yeah that helps too

✨ You love the baby

✨ Absolutely LOVE

✨ 100% an overprotective mother

✨ And secretly, Din is there to see it

✨ He thinks it’s so cute when you talk to the child

✨ He just smiles to himself as you do

✨ He loves seeing you in action

✨ If it’s fighting a stormtrooper or just yelling at some asshole, he loves it when you get mad

✨ He thinks you’re a badass

✨ Which you are

✨ After awhile he starts warming up to you

✨ Taking more

✨ Revealing tiny bitty pieces about his past and history

✨ The thing about not talking to anyone about personal matters is that it’s hard for him to do it

✨ He has to legitimately push himself into revealing where he was raised

✨ He always feels guilty

✨ Because 1. It’s against the code too do anything remotely personal especially because his reason for wanting to reveal it was because he liked you

✨ And 2. He didn’t want you getting attached

✨ Because deep down he believed that one day you two would go you’re separate ways

✨ Not because he wanted to; oh no

✨ But because he couldn’t bare dragging you deeper into a dangerous situation

✨ (That plan went to shit but that’s for another time...)

✨ But he likes hearing about your past too

✨ He’s such a good listener

✨ Sometimes he’ll engage in things too asking questions and adding commentary

✨ It’s adorable really

✨ Another thing is that he is super protective

✨ I mean he’s protective of the child, of course

✨ But with you?

✨ HA

✨ It’s like that times 1000.

✨ Will actually threaten someone’s life if they try to mess with you

✨ And he knows you can handle yourself

✨ But he’s fallen too hard for you

[It was just after talking to Daniel, where her anger got the best of her and she truly wanted to escape the club social. Erica felt a bit unstable in her heels, but it was nothing she couldn't pull herself through. The bathroom was the sanctuary her mind was thinking about. She had needed to pee before, but now the weight of her bladder made it so that she would explode if she did not reach a toilet soon enough. Winding among a maze of bodies, Erica finally found the door with a little woman in a skirt. "Oh thank heavenly Jesus..." she whispered to herself as she let herself in. Immediately she was blinded by the fluorescent lighting that lit the pink room. She squinted and blinked her eyes in order to adjust to the new setting. The room was set up with three stalls on the left side of the bathroom with a giant marble counter, with three porcelain sinks ensconced within. The mirror was wide and bordered in wood. She walked up to the sink to run the water because for some reason she got pee fright, and the sound of running water helped her. 

Because she was drunk, the water faucet was a challenge. The nozzle was not clearly labeled hot or cold, so it took her a few minutes to get that to turn the nozzle to the right let out hot water and to the left, cold. It took another minute to get the temperature right. Of course she truly didn't need to adjust the temperature, but once she stuck her hand under the stream, she wanted a comfortable setting. All this, just to pee. And by the time she had figured out the mechanics of the faucet, she had to take a minute to remember that her bladder was about to burst. She giggled to herself and raised her eyes to meet her gaze in the mirror. But she met other figures too.

Two masked figured stood on either side of her. Before she had time to do anything else, they man-handled her and gagged her up. Erica frantically twisted about, her throat hoarse from the screech that couldn't be heard, her tongue brushing up against the bunched up rag that filled her mouth. She felt strong hands around her arms. The touch burned her. She didn't know what was happening. So scared, she peed herself.

"Baby Roth needs a changin',"

"They never potty trained her, aw poor girl." Both of her capturers howled with uncontrollable laughter, exchanging exclamations that belittled the girl they were tying up with rope. Tears streamed down Erica's cheeks. On top of being scared out of her mind, she was humiliated that this was the way she would be immortalized; if they were to kill her right now. She was blindfolded and whisked away. Being carried this way was not what she considered enchanting in any way. 

"You know what we're going to do?" asked one of the masked strangers when she finally felt her feet touch the floor. "You're an Elite and we want what your kind's got. Now that we have you, and others, held hostage. We're gonna do with you what we like. Of course a deal can always be made. But in order to do so, your people have to come to us. Tick-tock Roth..."

Erica, who always paid no mind to what her last name meant, was finally getting it. Her father was an infamous stock brother. Money, territory, fame. She is an Elite. 'Your people' was referring to her family. Family...tick tock? It took her a few minutes to realize what he was referring to. Erica could feel the sneer plastered beneath the mask of the man standing before her. Time was running out, there was a fucking bomb strapped to her stomach. Erica let out another loud, muffled screech. Her body shaking violently with fear.

Rescue finally came. The taunting and threats she had to endure were traumatizing. Erica, little New Jersey girl, never expected her life to amount to this. She didn't know what she was getting into. Now she's bitten off a piece of the bad apple.]

2012 was a down year albeit my lows weren't the types of lows that could drive someone into depression. I only say it was a down year because I didn't live up to my expectations. Spiritually and physically there were glimmers of hope but nothing sustainable. Nonetheless, lessons were learned and revelations were had about things that I need to focus on in the coming year.

2013 will be a good year. This is a prediction, not an expectation as so many of us tend to do. We say "this year WILL be good to me" or "this year WILL be better than last" as if we're deserving of it. My prediction comes after some reflection of the past five or six of my life - a small sample set. Allow me to explain.

2007 was a memorable year in that it there was a period of time when I felt closest to God. That year was also the first and probably only time I legitimately chased after a girl and the first real experience of heartbreak. A friendship was ruined, yet new friendships were made.

2010 was a year of transformation. With the help of Dunn, my bitterness was overcome and my spirit was reinvigorated. I don't know if that led to my physical change as well. It started with a haircut then insanity. It wasn't until the second half of the year when I was back in school that my transformation on the basketball court occurred. Yes, it seems trivial, but my passion for basketball was really solidified this year because of the confidence I had.

Back to 2013. There's a two year gap (or three depending on how you look at it) between 2007, 2010, and 2013. It's a small sample size and I'm not sure if it even qualifies as a trend, but if it does, 2013 has something in store for me. I'm not sure what, but I'm looking forward to whatever it is. When I first started putting this post together, I thought the previous milestone years were the result of finally putting things together from the one or two years before. I'm now realizing that I was also setting myself up for the coming years.
