I sat there crying. Not because he refused to pay for my college unless I went to the one he chose but because I knew I wasn’t going to fight him. Because I knew I was breaking a promise that I had made to our haphazard trio. Because I was running from my feelings, from the possibility of a broken heart as if I didn’t already have one. As if I weren’t already in shambles. I sat there that day crying silently, thanking him silently for giving me an out. I cried because I was a coward. Because I knew we were on different pages. I wanted her, only her, but she wasn’t ready for that and now I was running. I was taking the easy way out. I cried because I knew that nothing would ever be the same.
