So obviously the first time I played the game I didn't know this was a doppelgänger. I assumed it probably was but I didn't know for certain.

But Avaria doesn't know, and at this point in the story everything has gone so horribly wrong so suddenly.

She's been accused of a murder she didn't commit, she's been attacked by dozens of doppelgängers taking the shape of people she grew up with, people she saw as friends and family.

She only just learned she's a bhaalspawn, and she doesn't know what that means, not really.

She's an elf, and she's like 30. By elf standards, that's not an adult. She's a child, a child who thought at the beginning of the game that she was going on a slightly perilous but ultimately enjoyable road trip with dad. And then on night fucking one he was killed, defending her from a group of strangers who want her dead for reasons she didn't yet know.

This doppelgänger shows up, looking like her father, speaking like her father, and in that moment where she is at her core: a Scared Little Girl who just wants Her Dad, she falls for it. She falls for it.
