so like, you inspired me to watch daredevil (not that i needed much encouragement lmao) and i just wanted to let you know my thoughts of the title sequence which was that red goo had a v similar consistency to the oil(?) that blinded matt and that's immediately what i thought of when i saw it. kinda like "this thing changed how he sees irrevocably and we also only see what it's made bit by bit" sort of thing maybe idk i'm a science major not a film major lol

also you 100% DO NOT need to be a film major to have a valid opinion on films. if it affects you a certain way then that’s valid. if you can articulate that, even better. (this is why i love stories so much tbh -- there’s no real need for “”””expertise”””” and like even though there’s an existing dialogue that someone like me gets into via academic studies, the whole point of it is just about how it makes you feel, so the only prerequisite to having an opinion on a film is that you’re human, y’know? and this is a lot of why i’m not a huge fan of overly experimental films because they???? almost force you to have that background knowledge of the medium in order to understand them and derive meaning from them, and it’s not about that. film isn’t about film, film is about human experience, and i think a good film is one you can really connect to without having to sift through a bunch of crap. that said, human experience often has layers, but i find that it isn’t an emotion buried beneath layers of intellectualizing as much as an emotion buried beneath another emotion buried beneath another, and some of them aren’t as affecting as others, but you can connect to every single layer, if that makes sense. so a great film to me operates like that: layers of emotion. oops that got really long why can i never shut up omg tl;dr I LOVE YOU AND THANK YOU FOR THIS)
