Jailbait -- [Coppster]
The edge of the desk was cutting into the back of Copperās thighs. This, however, was not the most irritating thing about this evening by a long shot. Heād been down at the store, picking up some foodābecause he couldnāt be arsed to go the actual supermarket. Besides, heād realized too late that he didnāt actually have any food. So, it was the supermarket for a few cans of soup, a bag of crisps, a pack of beer, and a few more chocolate bars than was probably strictly necessary.
Of course, the innocent shopping trip had been cut short when Chester had decided to go make a mess of thingsāand be right stupid about it. Copper couldnāt decide if he was more pissed about all the paperwork he was going to have to do about the arrest, or amused at the fact Chester had practically bragged about his astuteness with breaking the law, only to get caught a few weeks after being so arrogant about it.
That was probably the only good thing coming out of the evening. Copper felt at least a little bit of pride knowing the sly kid hadnāt pulled one over on him. And clicking the key into the lock of the jail cell had been satisfying in a triumphant sort of way. Though, now, as he sat here with his arms crossedāglaring at the kid who was taking his time with his one phone call, he couldnāt help but feel just a littleāsomething else as he watched Chester.
Something in his face, the pulled down corner of his lipsāthe way he refused someone who was obviously offering to pay his bail. Maybe they didnāt have the money for it, truly. Or maybe Chester really was making good on his promise to piss him off. Either way, when Chester hung up, Copper huffed and stood up, walking towards Chester and clamping a hand down on the junction on his neck and shoulder, steering him casually back towards his cell. āThat friend of yours coming tonight or not, laddie? Iād like to know if I can lock up or if weāll be expecting company.ā
