AU where Monroe's friend's dad getting killed by a seigbarste when he was a kid inspired him to go weider early on and become a cop. A woged wesen attacked Marie and Nick when he was 16, so she trained him for a few years until they fell out over ethics. Tired of fighting all the time, he went into policing as a sketch artist. Hank teases Monroe about his crush on Nick (who's interested but gunshy knowing he might be a grimm someday). Just as he decides to go for it anyway, his powers kick in.
