20. Talk about a ship you feel alone in shipping.

Okay for this one we have to reeeeeeewind to Gundam Wing fandom, but 2x4 (Duo/Quatre) became a ship I read the hell out of when the fandom started to dwindle down in activity. There comes a certain point after a fandom has died and gone to the fandom archives in the sky (so many good fics were lost before we had centralized archiving sites like FF.net and AO3) when you’ve read all the stuff for your first OTP, and your second, and then you start seeing pairings and thinking “I could see that.” 

This started out as one of those, but I got really into it and am kind of disappointed that I can’t find much fic for it. I don’t know why I’m so into it?? Probably because they’re so very different in every way - background, demeanor, religion, philosophy. I feel like if I ever did find “that one glorious fic” that did the pairing “right” in long-form like I desperately want, it would be about them challenging each other and getting in fights and watching each other’s back (because people also tended to forget that Quatre was a gundam pilot and not a slouch either).

Similarly, in the same fandom, 2x5 (Duo/Wufei) always tickled my fancy but thankfully we got the amazing Freeport as my “ultimate ship fic” there.

Friend: You know I never actually read the books right?

Me: WHAT

Friend: Okay I tried but then there was four pages of a song? Something about elves? I couldn't get through it.

Me:

Friend: And then I tried again after the movie with the second book and ENTS. DO THEY EVER DO ANYTHING?

Me: Oh my god you heathen.

Friend: I kind of wish I knew the lore though. Someone should do like, Tolkien Lore TL;DR or something.

Me: SACRILEGE

Friend: ...But you're gonna do it right?
