Cookie crumbles like Black market deals
I swear, stores do back of building shady suitcase deals of this stuff. It's hard to track down and sold out all the time.
Fried Chicken Bagel with Cookie Spread.
Yes, it is a sandwich.
Last week, one of my colleagues brought this delicious spekulatiusĀ cookie spread to work.
Spekulatius cookies are a variantĀ of the Dutch/German spiced shortcrust biscuitĀ that are made out of sugar, spices and almonds and joy.
This spekulatius cookie spread tasted like sugar, spices and almonds and joy.
So, of course, the Boobook and I just HAD to get some.
My colleague told me that she got it at Aldi.
This was going to be a challenge. Shopping at Aldi is like, in Forrest Gumpās own words, āa box of chocolates. You never know what youāre going to get.ā
Aldiās goods are seasonally influenced and rotate about twice a week. So, each time you walk into a store, the items are completely different.
And thus, began the Aldi Adventures. Ā Hereās what we foundĀ this time (hover over pictures for helpful captions!):
Something about this just isnāt rightā¦
Pizza things!
Spot the difference!
Traditional Easter pigs?
Oh happy cow my motherās friend!
Spaceman Spiff (not for sale)
I canāt believe itās not Toblerone!
Norovirus Central!
No. Just no.
Party time in the garden hose!
Itās getting hot in hereā¦
Jamminā in the Jam aisle.
Things that really should not be in elevated baskets
Where the cookie spread should be, we foundā¦.
ā¦CHEESE SPREAD?! WHAT IS THIS TRAVESTY!?!
Our haul for the dayā¦
ā¦and a bonus for the Boobook
The Muesli Clusters were actually pretty tasty, though Iām unsure as to their nutritional value. We used the stud finder to mount the TV on the wall.
The Boobook was satisfied by the Mountain Bar.
Well, we couldnāt find the cookie spread, but⦠maybe next time onĀ Aaaaaaaldiiiii Adveeeeentureeeees!
The great Quest has begun! Last week, one of my colleagues brought this delicious spekulatiusĀ cookie spread to work. Spekulatius cookiesā¦
