Just like so many mornings Eunji was late for work. She stumbled through her apartment with a piece of toast in her mouth while putting on her Converse sneakers and collecting her tablet, camera, cell phone and notes and shoving everything into her bag just so she could rush out the door most likely forgetting something.
Luckily she managed to grab everything she needed for the day and even managed to finish an article she was working on that was long overdue. She’s a good journalist but she’s quite messy, likes to do things her own way and often waits until the last minute to finish and hand in her articles. Thankfully her boss liked her enough to deal with her ways even though there have been many times he wanted to pull his hair out.
The second she stepped out of the elevator she already heard him yelling her name, ordering her to come into his office. She quickly shuffled over to him and bowed her head before she pulled out an USB stick from her bag and handed it to him. “Before you say anything, here’s the article you wanted.” She kind of knew that he had another job for her and she couldn’t wait to hear what it was. “Can I please get something more interesting this time?”
Before she could say anything else she was handed a file that held a couple pieces of paper with some information about a woman called Song Jieun and a man called Yang Seungho. She had never heard of them before but the photo of the male that was attached to the file caught her interest and got her curious about who he was but even more so what it was that her boss wanted her to do. “So, what’s up with them? Do they have some dirt up their sleeves?”
Her boss quickly explained that rumours about them running a gang from the music store she owns were going around and that Eunji's job was to get close to him and find out whether or not those rumours were true and whatever else she could dig up. He didn’t like the idea of putting her in a possibly dangerous situation but he also knew that she was the only one crazy enough to actually take the job because she loved the thrill of danger and had ended up in more than enough sticky situations before.
She was already out the door and halfway through the room with an excited smile on her face when she looked back over her shoulder. “I’ll take it!” She shouted back while throwing her hand in the air and giving her boss a thumbs up before she disappeared into the elevator.
As she expected it took her a couple of days before she actually managed to find him and she knew that she had to be careful not to be caught observing him. Once she had enough information about when he was at the store and seemed to be working she decided to take the next step and bumped into him a couple of times at the coffee shop nearby but at the same time tried not to be too obvious so he wouldn’t get suspicious. This went on for a while until she was confident enough that he had caught some interest in her but she still had to figure out whether or not that was actually good.
Standing outside the music store she adjusted the flannel shirt she had tied around her waist before she tugged her hair behind her ear and entered the building. She looked around and slowly made her way through the store, scanning the racks filled with CDs and records until she stops when she reached the equipment section. Looking at the headphones she actually remembered that she needed a new pair because her old ones just broke the day before. Now all she had to do was wait until he spotted and hopefully recognized her before she could make her next move.
