The Creative Industries pose CHALLENGES because of the relative indeterminacy or unknowability of the process of creative production and the factors affecting its consumption. This is in contrast to more traditional businesses where production and consumption are potentially much more knowable and controllable. (Richard E. Caves, Creative Industries: Contracts between Art and Commerce)
Before we are taking a close look on the different branches of the Creative Industries in our next lectures, we discussed the meaning of “creativity” and created a “context map” for “Music and Creative Industries”. This context map is very helpful to recognize trends, customer needs, political factors, the economic climate, the different branches, uncertainties and technology trends affecting the Creative Industries.
