On 4th June, Sonali Gera & I shared this practice at our monthly Resilience & Healing Circle. Many participants wrote back to us about how this practice is helping them cultivate resources to face their current challenges. Their feedback has inspired us to share the practice from the book here (pls scroll down for the whole practice). We hope it helps everyone reconnect with their inner source of resilience. RE-SOURCING PRACTICES Contemplative Practice: My Resource Mandala (Page 95, Midnight Journey of a Seed: Pathways of Resilience in the Face of a Pandemic) Draw a circle and divide it into four quadrants. Now, sit still for a moment. Imagine all the resources that you have in the following four categories and write them in the four quadrants: • Physical: Start with your body. Write the practices that help you nurture your physical and mental wellbeing. Also think about the place you live in, your neighbourhood and the Earth that supports you. What do you value most about it? • Relational: Think about all the intimate relationships that matter to you—your family, friends and colleagues who stand by you and your ancestors whose blessings are always with you. • Systems: This may include your local chemist, grocery provider, cab driver, family doctor and all the friends you have that are part of health, finance or food systems and that you need in a crisis such as this. You may also add any local community that supports your wellbeing. • Spiritual: What gives you inner resilience? Here you may include all your creative, spiritual, service or faith-based practices. Once you have few words in each quadrant, drop your pen and sit in silence. Imagine the resources you have all around you. Feel the strength they give you and reflect on how you may nurture them in the days to come.
