Constructech Honors 2018 Vision Awards Winners

Recognizing the most innovative construction companies in the world, Constructech magazine announces the winners of the 2018 Constructech Vision Awards, which were honored at a dinner last night at the DoubleTree By Hilton Chicago – Arlington Heights, Ill.

Now in its 19th year, the Constructech Vision Awards honor companies that are using emerging technology in a pioneering way to solve a challenge or to transform the industry. Companies eligible to submit for this competition include residential, commercial, and heavy construction businesses, professionals in all trades, architectural and engineering firms, corporate owners, facility management, government agencies, and land developers.

The winners were selected by a group of industry experts, analysts, professors, and consultants based on the construction company’s ability to solve a business problem, use technology in a unique way, and the ROI (return on investment) of the solution. Companies are eligible for a Gold, Silver, or Bronze in their category. Additionally, Constructech recognizes the hardware and software companies that helped enable the construction company to receive its award.

“This year we had the largest pool of entries by construction companies, with a focus on improving their ability to respond to customer demands through the use of emerging technology and transforming their businesses all while keeping their workers safe at the jobsite,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Constructech magazine and president of Specialty Publishing Media. Although not every company that nominated made it to the podium this year, the ones that are earning industry accolades are demonstrating how critical technology is in building upon a new world economy.”

Constructech Celebrates 2018 Women in Construction

Constructech magazine held the Fourth annual 2018 Women in Construction awards at a dinner on Wednesday, August 22 at 7 p.m. at Carlucci Restaurant in Rosemont, Ill.

The evening included a cocktail reception, dinner, and awards presentation. There was also a panel discussion with previous Women in Construction winners that included Lynn Coffey, founder and owner, ProCon Solutions, Nancy Novak, senior vice president, Compass Datacenters, and Jennifer Suerth, vice president, technical services, Pepper Construction.

“I am deeply honored by this award, and to be recognized as part of this accomplished group,” say Jit Kee Chin, chief data officer, Suffolk Construction. “Suffolk is committed to diversity, as it is critical for our industry’s growth and evolution that we harness the talents of every individual regardless of gender. At the same time, I look forward to the near future when we no longer need to separately celebrate the success of women, as we will have achieved equality.”

Constructech magazine’s 2018 Women in Construction recognizes the most successful women working at some of the most forward-thinking and technology-driven companies that are leading the transformation change within the construction industry.
