3 - favourite scene I wrote this year
this is so hard! I love the opening of Tomcat, because I can see it so clearly in my mind, and all of Big Sky Country, but I think it has to be the scene outside the casino from let me take you by the hand and drag you through the streets of london. I adore writing Constantine and Zatanna, and it was fun (for given, emotionally charged, values of fun) to have a chance to see the fucked up mess that is their relationship from an outside perspective, the ways that they love one another and can't stand one another and still, despite everything, genuinely like one another. I love the Nick Necro I built out of craft glue and glitter and a handful of canonical references, but sometimes it's fun to look at the space where he isn't, as well.
18 - current number of WIPs
an embarrasing number, frankly. I'm actively working on about 15, mainly the next installment in Robin by Midnight, both the worldanvil and AO3 versions of Back to the Future Didn't Prepare Me for This, a sequel to Gotham Ghoul, a sequel to the Joyce Byers Home for Wayward Teenagers, a dead-dove batman/robins vampire AU fic, and a ron/draco hp fic which is mostly an excuse to write deep dive critiques of JKR's worldbuilding. I'm also prodding at something else in the LMTYBTH universe, and debating whether I'm prepared to commit to my Merlin x Musketeers crossover fic which I think would work out being the longest thing I ever wrote and requires so much research into the 30 years war!
24 - favourite fic I read this year
There's been so many amazing fics this year, I couldn't possibly choose only one, so in no particular order;
The Only Heaven We'll Be Sent To by Cut Out Stars
I've read more buffy this this year than I have since the whale-tail was still considered an acceptable runway look, and this is one of the absolutel best. Just the most believable, tender (hot) look at Spike & Dru's early relationship.
Demonology and the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma: An Integrative Approach by Nnm
I don't read a lot of Good Omens fic, and I rec even less. It takes something really special to approach Terry & Neil's writing, and this fic really is something special.
if i think that you might like me (i might start getting lonely) by SummerFrost
This fic is so cute, and so heartfelt, and maybe the best written Spike I've ever read.
