Conservation Core: Or, Why we all Love Animals on Tumblr
Iāve noticed something in my previous blogs on Tumblr. Every single aesthetic has some relation of some kind in some way to animals. If not that, the blog owner loves animals. Perhaps you have a cat or a dog? Even if you own no pets, almost everyone has some appreciation for the majesty of nature that manifests in the animals we see around us, every day.Ā
So... Iām creating, officially, conservationcore. You might be wondering, how is this different from goblin or cottage or farmcore, which seems to be very popular? Well, conservationcore focuses less on the aesthetic and more of actually being in nature and helping wildlife. Letās get into it.
First, since the most important part of conservationcore is eco-activism, Iāll talk about what a person interested in conservationcore might do.
-Peacefully protesting against deforestation, illegal and legal poaching of endangered and vulnerable species, tourist attractions that would pose threats to wildlife species, etc.
-Pick up the trash of those who litter on beaches, parks, even in the strip of grass beside your home where driving cars throw their McDonaldās cups.
-The Three Rās- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Recycle your cardboard, glass, plastic, paper. Reduce your consumption of products with a lot of packaging you cannot recycle. Reduce in fun ways- use a clean butter container to hold your oil pastels, for instance.
-Adopt a pet from your local shelter if you have the means to do so.
-Take note of pressing issues about climate change and learn what you can do to prevent it getting worse.
-Remember that every year, over 100 environmental activists are murdered.
-Use smile.amazon.com to donate to a charity of your choice, like the Humane Society.
Now that youāve gotten through that, letās focus on actual aesthetics.
-T-shirts with animals on it, especially if the t-shirt in question is from the ASPCA or WWF. Any organization that helps animals? Wear their merch.
I mean, youād want to wear a rainbow, pride-themed panda anyways. Donāt lie.
-Shorts or jeans that are capable of going outside are your best bet, like dad or mom jeans. They have lots of pockets! Donāt neglect cargo pants and shorts, either.
-Shoes can be anything from casual sneakers to hiking boots. Whatever floats your conservationist boat.
Knock off vans are just as good as regular vans, people.
My next cool item is really cool because for every bracelet sold, 1 dollar is donated to WWF. It is expensive at 23 dollars, but thereās something super interesting about it- the white bead has water from Mt. Everest in it, and the black bead has mud from the Dead Sea inside. It reminds you to stay humble and hopeful.
I couldnāt forget the 4Ocean bracelet, either.
This 4Ocean bracelet is made from trash in the ocean. Wear it with pride and know that it goes to cleaning up our oceans.
I have even decided to make a conservationcore playlist.

Ā I donāt think this post is going to do super well, but I really hope it does, and thatās because animals are dying due to human destruction every day and itās important that we care for them best as we can.
