how is my dear son deets doing in this nice winter day?
This feels like a bullet point sort of a question.
The snow has brought the whole country to a halt. Deets is still working for the car valeting firm, and nobody wants to get their car washed while it’s snowing (they’ll be busy next week) and working with water isn’t great in sub zero temperatures, so they didn’t open yesterday or today.
Seb works from home, so he doesn’t get snow days, and he was expecting Deets to be underfoot and irritating because Deets isn’t very good at finding things to do.
Chelsea actually got some extra shifts at work - she works in a supermarket close to home, and she can walk there so she’s earning some extra money covering for colleagues who couldn’t get there or who had to stay home with their kids.
Josh and Jamie aren’t working either, because neither of them wants to go up ladders in this weather.
So, Deets has had the kids today because the school and nursery were both closed (Finley is now six and Lolly is four) and he’s taken them sledding with Josh and Jamie. That took most of the morning, and then he took them back to Josh and Jamie’s house for lunch so that they didn’t disturb Seb.
He’s been looking after the kids long enough to know to use the after-lunch energy to walk home. Even then, it’s a good thing that Josh (and Waldo) came with them because Lolly needs to be carried and Finley wants a piggy-back (he’s not tired, he’s NOT)
Josh and Waldo come in for a coffee (...Waldo has some water) and then leave them to it. Nobody disturbs Seb because Deets parks both kids on the couch with a disney movie on and they’re both asleep within twenty minutes.
Deets is asleep within thirty minutes
When Seb and Mitzi finish work for the day, they find all three of them sacked out on the couch with the DVD menu playing.
Mitzi joins the nap pile, and Seb makes dinner ready for when Chelsea gets home from work.
Katie and Olivia also had a snow day, but they’re not really within walking distance of Seb’s (could do it on a nice day, but when the weather’s like this it’s better not to) so they’re having a night in with Luke.
