Wisconsin Covenant Scholars are involved in a variety of activities. Though Tricia is not a music major, she still loves music, and has been playing the violin for eleven years. Because of this, she joined the Parkside Community Orchestra, where non-music majors can express their love of music. Tricia also works for Kelley Bellin, UW-Parkside's Director of College Access, Readiness, and Transition, and also our Wisconsin Covenant Coordinator, checking for incoming Wisconsin Covenant freshman and transfer students among other tasks, such as sending important emails and scheduling interviews for the next Scholar of the Week! To stay connected, Tricia uses Facebook, getting updates from pages like the Wisconsin Covenant page and the UW-Parkside Admissions page, checks her email, looks at flyers around campus, and hears about upcoming events from Kelley.
When asked what "Connect.Serve.Lead." meant to her, Tricia said to "connect" meant to connect with other students and Wisconsin Covenant Scholars and Students, to "serve" meant to act in the community as a positive influence, and to "lead" was to lead by example; to learn and apply what you learn by leading into future leadership opportunities, as Tricia has done. Recently employed at the concession stand of the Milwaukee County Zoo, where little was being done to help new employees, Tricia took it upon herself to train incoming workers, and took steps to establish a training program--going above and beyond her job description, as a Wisconsin Covenant Scholar does.
