Why is every conlanging video about syntax limited to "Are you SOV, SVO, or VSO?"
I need help getting more indepth! I already know I'm doing SOV, but I have no idea how complex adjectival or dependent phrases work outside of english (or even within english). It's to the point where I'm not even sure what part of speech "of" is in the phrase "I was a child of three". Would I mark "child" as accusative and "three" as dative? Or is "three" just an adjective without case marking? Would phrasing it "child three" mean "3-year-old child" or "three children"?
Am I just stupid because I grew up with English as my only point of reference? Or is it the failure of what little education I got on linguistics?
I noticed some conlang help you had! I was wondering about the sound chart and what sounds they make? Can’t find anything about it since I’m making my first language :(
by sound chart I’m going to assume you mean the IPA chart
the IPA chart I use the most is ipachart.com! it has audio for every sound on the chart! the only problem with ipachart.com is that it doesn’t have anything for diacritics in IPA that’s why it took me so much longer to learn the diacritics oof
there’s another website that organizes the IPA chart slightly differently and it seems like a different person recorded the audio for this website so the pronunciations are slightly different.
if you want to learn more about extensions to IPA, you can go to the official website of the International Phonetic Association for the download of their full IPA chart or you can go to the Wikipedia page on the topic. just remember that these sites won’t have audio for things like pronouncing the diacritics
in the end, IPA is just an alphabet, so you can make it as precise or as approximate as you want! happy conlanging!
just made a Tumblr group chat for conlangs, conlangblrs, and anyone interested in conlangs!
the easiest way to make untranslatable words is making words that describe feelings because apparently English is limited with emotion words but also you feel a lot of things other people don't feel so then you can put words to that

for the record
if you’ve never made a conlang before, the easiest way to start making a conlang is either to make a creole (blending or mixing two languages together) or make one based off an existing language (posteriori). you won’t have to worry about phonology, lexicon, or grammar too much because you can just steal it off of the existing languages with a few tweaks of your own.

I'm test driving this and learning from experience.
Interesting Features?: I do like the fact that everything is added via prefix Problems?: Numbering system. Saying long numbers in Bosolih (like 12,586) involves putting the number in expanded form (ki lawa saka lik qelwa saka joh likwa saka zay wa saka wuyi). That's a doozy to say, so saying 100,256,356,267 in Bosolih is a nightmare.
(I need help with some of the terms on this page, hence the many n/as. Thoughts and help?)
