The conidiophore of a Penicillium fungus. Referenced from Radical Mycology by Peter McCoy (pg. 7).
I've been really inspired by botanical illustration lately. I found a digitized copy of Fungi and How to Know Them (1909) by E. W. Swanton on archive.org and while the info is obviously very outdated, its been interesting to see how it contrasts with the modern texts I've read.
And I've been blessed with quotes such as, "The fungi comprise a group of plants second to none in their capacity for evil." First line of the preface. cx
But what I've been most captivated by are the gorgeous plates by a miss M. K. Spittal. I just had to try this style for myself. I know nothing about inking techniques but I'm definitely gonna be looking into it because this was so much fun!
