okay so first, i'm honored that you came to me to ask this question and welcome to the rockies fam!! i hope that i answer your questions well enough but, here we go. 

i love this team so much. i miss their stupid faces so much and even if they were to lose every game i'd still watch them day in and day out. sometimes, seasons do actually feel like that, especially when they get to 90+ losses. but hey. as for the players themselves, i think we've got a really good team that are on the edge of being really, really good. i know 2019 was a stumbling block, but i don't think that it means that they'll go right back to their losing ways. (of course it may be wishful thinking and also i'm just totally avoiding anything about nolan leaving or being traded cause in my mind that's just not happening but.) 

anyways. we've got a group of guys with stellar defense and the younger ones are coming into their own and once they get comfortable, i really think they could win the nl west. i talk about ryan mcmahon a lot because he's a delightful human being but he's also improving every season and assuming he gets a starting job, i don't see how he couldn't pan out like story has. same thing with sam hilliard, honestly. nolan and trevor and dahl are only gonna continue to get better, and i think that charlie will rebound. 

i know i haven't really talked much about the pitching, but i still have faith that jon and kyle and german will be strong starters. i would love to see senzatela and lambert round out the rotation (yes, i have favorites) and for obie to become our closer. if he could grow into the roll, i see hoffman being a decent reliever, but i don't know how many more chances he'll get with the team. pitching hasn't always been the rockies strong suit but for as much as i hate the "coors field effect" it can be difficult to pitch there. 

this is already getting so long but the last thing that i can think of right now is how much i love the rockies friendships and how they all genuinely seem to like each other. i know the younger guys all hang out quite a bit, and nolan's taken on a more veteran role. the clubhouse is missing cargo (as am i) but i think that even some of the younger ones are helping to bring back the team spirit and a more laid-back culture and that's so fun to see.

APPARENTLY the general consensus is they do and @softbrobusiness has the convincing argument of “if you have 3 horses with little to no markings to differentiate, does it matter if you can tell them apart?” which is how i feel abt the staals so...

they find a tiny shivering bundle on the side of the road one afternoon. the snow is fresh on the ground when they head home from lunch on a rare shared off day, and nico spots a strange lump right by the intersection. “hey, pull over?” he asks. 

“why?” nolan asks, but does anyways. nico doesn’t tend to do strange things, so he’s got to have a good reason for this. 

in answer, nico bounds out of the car and returns a few seconds later with something cradled in his arms, almost drowning in an old, dirty towel. “i think he is a puppy?” he says in response to nolan’s questioning glance. “someone just left him here.”

nolan can’t help but grin. “well, let’s get him home,” he says, and maybe he speeds a little on their way back. as he’s driving, he notices nico soothing the small, matted creature, speaking german in a low, gentle voice, and something swells in his heart. there’s something about the image, of nico wrapping up something small in his arms and caring for it, that stirs something in his chest.

when they get home, nico rushes to grab a blanket off his (unused for the most part) bed, swaddling the poor thing in it and tossing the towel in the sink. “look up animal shelters,” he all but orders nolan. “also do we have anything to feed him?”

“we don’t have any food to begin with,” nolan says. “i can run out and get some puppy food?”

“no, no, it’s fine, i can - i will figure out something,” nico says. he all but shoves the puppy into nolan’s arms, running to the kitchen in a flurry of action, and nolan takes just a moment to appreciate how cute nico is about this whole thing before he turns his mind to the task at hand.

i just stared at this and laughed for a good two minutes, bc this is the one thing about me that unintentionally confuses tf out of everyone.

when i publish this, probably at least two or three people are going to go ‘wait it’s NOT jelly-of-hearts tf’
