He’d laugh at your annoyance as they played Amazing Grace for the fifth time and he’d kiss your cheek with this stupid grin like it was the best joke ever.

Drabble:

Your hand was gripped tightly by your boyfriend’s as youstood in front of the haunted house at the theme park. It had been Mikey’s dumbidea to spend Halloween here, dressed up as the bride of Frankenstein’s Monsterand surrounded by kids half your age. You’d laughed at the attempt to make theteacups into cauldrons and how they’d put fake cobwebs on everything in sight.Mikey had pulled you over to the corner of the park where the little kids allran away from with fear. There were only a handful of teenagers and adults wholoitered around the rickety old house. A warning sign sat on the fence warningyou about how it was haunted and not for the fainthearted.

Together you headed for the entrance where a hooded figureled you to a car and lowered the bar so there was no escape. Mikey’s handsqueezed yours as he smiled in a way that said hey, what could possibly scare us? You smiled back, your stomachalready churning with anticipation.

“It’ll only be some puppets and a few spring loaded coffins,babe,” he said reassuringly. “We’ll be okay.”

You nodded moving closer into his side. The car jerkedforward on the track and the hooded figure waved eerily as the curtains liftedto let you inside. The inside was dark, pitch black to the point you couldn’tsee your hand in front of your face. You wrapped an arm around Mikey’s stomach,pulling yourself closer to him just in time for the place to light up withthunder. There was enough light for you to see the girl’s bloody hand reachingout for you. You screamed at the shock of it and Mikey’s arm enveloped yourshoulders. You were too focused on that to see the floating figure swoop downto grab you, narrowly missing you both but it was enough to make you jump.

“Are they just going to throw things at us?” Mikey whisperedin your ear as a spring loaded coffin flung up a half rotten man.
