Oxnard Man on probation found to have handgun concealed in his backpack
On Monday July 13, 2015, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit contacted two individuals near the intersection of Ventura Rd. and Redwood St. One of the individuals, 20 year old Oxnard resident Kirk Kahalekulu, was determined to have outstanding warrants for his arrest and on probation. Kahalekulu was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants. A backpack belonging to Kahalekulu was searched and a 9mm handgun was located inside along with 9mm ammunition. Kahalekulu was subsequently charged with possession of a concealed firearm in public.
