Youâre very on point I think. I agree that SPN fandom in particular revolves much around shipping, cos itâs such a character driven show. Nine times out of ten those good characters youâve known over a decade like your own real friends will carry whatever bullshit that the plot department throws at us, which in turn makes it make sense that relationships are what a fan could naturally gravitate towards.
Which must be very frustrated for anyone who isnât into it. I know plenty of people who are upset that you canât find a story that doesnât throw plot under the bus just to have smut whatever to dominate the scape.
All I can say that at least there are ships for all tastes now, go back to 2006 with me, when your options were wincest, wincest and wincest xD Good luck in being in the fandom if you didnât like it xDDD
I actually have absolutely no problem with wincest whatsoever, itâs just not much of my cup of tea when there are options to my taste. But it ties into my disgusting habit of not being interested in anything unless itâs shippable - Iâve been asked to if I was into wincest in 2018 if there were no other options and honestly, probably. I still am occasionally, like the early season chemistry is just damn golden. But I get that when people are like, you disgusting whore, canât you even look at two fictional brothers without making it into whatever shit this is, Iâm like, I dunno.
Fandom has just very little interest to me unless itâs about shipping.
It has very little do with ethics you know, I really would rather like I wasnât like this. To me, personally, being a fan is equal to shipping, and those things donât come apart. Those re not separate things in my head, it is the same thing.
Canât say I am very proud of myself, but this is the honest truth.
