BIG KAY KAY ENERGY: Comptonâs Jst Kay Kay Is Owning Her Lane in Rap, Reality TV & Baddies Empowerment
If youâve been keeping up with The Liq Podcast, youâve seen her work the mic and win over the crowdâtwice. Jst Kay Kay isnât just making waves in the L.A. underground, sheâs repping Compton with raw energy, undeniable talent, and the kind of charisma that canât be taught.
âI donât do it just to win,â Kay Kay says. âI do it to get heardâand the people f**k with me every time I hit that room.â
From Liq champ to cast member on Compton Baddies, to launching her own platform Baddies Blueprint, Kay Kay is showing young women that you can do it all and still keep it real.
Her music is catchy, fun, and straight for the culture. âThere arenât too many females my age from Compton coming as hard as me,â she tells trapLA. âPeople say I remind them of AZJAH, but Iâm in my own category.â
Influenced by the likes of Drakeo, Saviii 3rd, Babyface Ray, and Chef Boy, Kay Kay blends hard-hitting Compton bars with smooth R&B vibes. âThe music I make is nothing like what I listen to,â she laughs. âBut I love the catchy stuff!â
Her creative process starts with the hookââthe most important part,â she says. âItâs what catches the ear. Without a good hook, you already lost.â
Reality Check: From Compton Baddie to Blueprint Boss
Kay Kayâs energy caught fire on Compton Baddies, where her unapologetic confidence lit up the screen.
âIâve always been a Compton Baddieâon and off the show,â she says. âIt just motivated me to stay on my shit and keep myself up.â
From boxing matches to podcast appearances and stage shows, her time on reality TV helped her realize her potential. âI started doing music in middle school, but I didnât take it seriously until Season 1 of the show. It all blended together. It was destined.â
Now, sheâs building her own reality series from the ground up: Baddies Blueprint, a platform created with fellow artist MYNX to highlight Black women making boss moves.
âWeâre not trying to build tension with the girls for content,â she says. âWeâre building a sisterhood and making money moves at the same time. Going to church, giving back, motivating each otherâthis is where real women come to shine.â
Jst Kay Kay has big music moves coming. Tracks like âCopy Meâ ft. MYNX, âBend Overâ and âCanât Waste No Timeâ ft. Chef Boy, and âBook With Meâ ft. KFlexin are all in the pipeline, with music videos and mic performance visuals dropping soon.
But sheâs keeping the momentum grounded in purpose: âWhatâs meant for you is for you. Not everyoneâs happy for youâand thatâs okay. Iâm learning to move with love and discernment.â
Sheâs balancing it allâartist, influencer, businesswomanâwith one key ingredient: authenticity. âThereâs no script. I donât gotta be nobody but myself.â
In five years? She sees herself with a nice house, a healthy family, and the kind of career that lets her explore the world freely. âI want to enjoy family, wealth, and a successful career. All I do now is so I can worry less later.â
To the young women coming up behind her, she offers this: âStay positive. Keep God first. Donât wait until itâs perfect to start. Do what you loveâno matter the budget.â
