Ericsson introduces AVP4000 compression platform to deliver TV services
Mobile telecommunications company Ericsson debuted its new high-performance compression platform to provide TV services across all networks. Powered by the company’s first in-house developed programmable video processing chip, the AVP 4000 is a single platform that caters to different applications -- regardless of its codec, network or resolution. Ericsson’s next-generation compression platform guarantees ease of integration, expansion, re-purposing, training, repair and upgrades because it address all application, codecs, resolutions and profiles. As a result, it reduces the overall cost of ownership, thanks to the new video processing chip of the company. In a company statement, Ericsson TV Compression Business Head Giles Wilson noted: "This programmable chip gives us the performance and the control necessary to develop and implement the algorithms required to achieve the highest bandwidth efficiency across all delivery networks.” Telus, a Canadian telecommunications company, is now testing Ericsson’s AVP 4000 for a future TV platform, with high-quality and services.
