People like Flint? I don’t actively dislike him but I don’t like him either. He simply exists.

Well that's the thing, the Black Sails tag is mostly just "Maxeanor" and "Omg Silver is so hot". There's really no discussion of anything else. And there's virtually no discussion about Flint.

But it's clear to the narrative, Flint is the main character: the things that he wants drive the story. But at some point, aren't I supposed to root for him? He's disgusting.

My negativity toward him is colored by the fact that I'm sick of the Tony Soporanos and Dexters and McNultys of the world. Disgusting white men who I'm supposed to get behind even though they are shit? I'm tired of that.

I've never seen the fascination with Samberg. It's almost like the industry sees that Sandler is getting old and shitty, so they need another Sandler SO SO bad, they'll take Andy Samberg even though he sucks. I also resent that Brooklyn 99 is the first cop show that specifically FOR Brooklyn and it's that shitty show and not a drama or something with some substance to it....
