The Cheerleaders
The town of Sunnybrook has no cheerleaders. It all started when two girls from the team died in a car accident. A couple weeks later two more girls died by a gruesome murder. The last died by suicide. After the deaths, the cheerleading team was disbanded in the school. Now five years later, the school wants to set up a memorial for the cheerleaders to honor them, but Monica doesn’t want to. Her sister was one of the girls who died and she wants to forget the horrible tragedy. She later unearths an old cell phone that belonged to her sister in her stepfather’s desk, and a whole new mystery starts. She finds letters written by an anonymous person to her stepfather on the anniversary of her death saying the words, “I know it wasn’t him. Connect the dots.” This chilling murder mystery has many twists and turns and hidden clues no one sees coming.
The book is very similar to the CW show, Riverdale. The show focuses on a murder of a football player in the first season and the mystery around his death. This book also has some of the elements that reminded me of the TV show Pretty Little Liars as well. The story follows the murder of a popular high school girl, and her friends get texts that help them reveal her killer and the real mystery behind her death. The book would be perfect for anyone who loves either of those shows or any mystery books. This book is one that will keep readers guessing and will keep people reading. I am not a big fan of mystery books, but I love this book because it is so interesting and made me want to piece together the clues.
