I agree with you on the sentiment that I hope Zero Two realizes her unhealthy behaviors towards Hiro as the show goes on, but I fear that this development will either not come to light, or happen in the last couple episodes. There's a lot of potential in letting Zero Two develop connections with the rest of Hiro's team, who already seem to be doing well together, and that can all play out in her and Hiro making their relationship work, both in and out of Streliza. What do you think could happen?
Unfortunately, I also have the feeling that Zero Twoās troubling behavior wonāt be addressed. Maybe thinking that the issue will be touched upon is just being too optimistic.
But if this developmentĀ does happen, I donāt think itāll happen in the last couple of episodes! DARLING in the FRANXX is really moving the Hiro/Zero Two relationship right along, and honestly, I was far more sold on a Zero Two/Hiro romance in episode 1 than, say, a Katsuhira/Noriko romance in episode 12 of Kiznaiver. I canāt imagine the problem of Zero Twoās behavior being dragged out so long if it is going to be talked about.Ā
Maybe thatās just optimistic thinking again, thoughā¦.
I would love to see Zero Two connect more with Hiroās squad and make some real friends other than him, because pushing the importance of non-romantic love is such a welcome thing to see in media where romance is so often seen as the be-all and end-all. And, (potential episode 7 spoilers), the preview for the next episode seems to be going this way! Zero Two looks to be hanging out with the others as though sheās a real part of the team.
However, Iām still rather convinced that Hiro and Zero Two will be separated from the group in some way. They might be called upon to fight on theĀ āfront linesā that have been mentioned, or maybe theyāll run away together as Zero Two has suggested because they both understand that Papaās system is messed up and horrible. Hiro and Zero Two might even wind up opposing the squad, which would make any team-building between themā¦ hurt a lot.
In any case, people have been calling DARLING in the FRANXX generic since day 1, but I honestly donāt know where this series is going! Iām very interested to see what happens next.
