The 5th piece from my Wild Edible series. The common mallow plant, AKA cheeseweed. Related to the marsh mallow. As the name implies, you can make marshmallows outta this plant due to its mucilaginous properties. As for its common name, "cheeseweed," they have tiny fruit that resemble cheese wheels. I found this plant on one of my nature walks in Montana De Oro and I had to learn what it was because I loved the accordion shaped leaves.
