two sets of mushrooms I found around my school, this is part one! the younger ones appeared more yellow-ey and the mature ones were a darker chestnut. I thought they were pretty!

These are common inkcaps (Coprinus atramentaria) - they’re turning darker as they mature as they begin to self-digest and deliquesce into a black inky substance in order to release their spores. In their younger stages, before they begin to blacker, they’re a popular edible, although they are potentially severely poisonous if eaten within a few days either side of consuming alcohol.Â
