37. “I tried my best to not feel anything for you. Guess what? I failed.”

I had to add a “Keep reading” because it was kind of long.

(Keep in mind that this isn’t canon. JSY is going to be different.)

I was also listening to “Strangers in Love” by Parisian (aka the “Scott and Marlee almost kiss” song) while writing this.

69. “We are not going to steal someone’s dog.”

“Just look at his little face.”

“Marlee, we can’t.”

“Pleeeaaase.”

“We are not going to steal someone’s dog.”

Scott was at the veterinarian clinic, checking over a Rottweiler puppy that was due to go home the next day. The little guy had managed to swallow a toy race car and had to have surgery to get it removed. Someone who didn’t know about the mishap would never be able to tell that the happy-looking animal recently had a major surgery- if it wasn’t for the bald spot on his stomach, the staples, and the infamous cone of shame.

Marlee had tagged along, having heard about the mischievous pup named Rocket. She was currently cooing over him as he peered back at her, his big brown eyes watching her every move excitedly.

“Don’t refer to it as ‘stealing’- just think of it as 'permanently borrowing’.”

The corners of the Alpha’s mouth quirked up at that reasoning before replying, "I’m sure that’s exactly how Stiles’s dad will see it when he has to arrest you.“

"When he has to arrest us.” Marlee corrected with a grin, her eyes still focused on the canine.

“We’re not stealing the dog.”

The blonde girl maneuvered herself so both she and Rocket, who turned his attention to the werewolf, were looking in Scott’s direction.

“Hello,” She spoke in a baby voice, carefully picking up one of the pup’s front paws and moving it in a way that made it look like he was waving, “my name is Rocket and I love Marlee very much.”

The young man smiled affectionately at his girlfriend, as she straightened up, before moving to kiss her on the temple.

"Maybe you can ask his owners if you could dog-sit sometime.” Scott suggested, his lips lightly brushing against her skin.

Marlee pouted but followed it up with an overdramatic sigh.

“Fiiine. I guess I can do that… and make him a little ‘get well’ card.”

Peering up at her boyfriend with playfully narrowed blue eyes, she stated, “But when you and I are married, we’re getting at least two dogs.”

68.“Let’s do something crazy.”

“Let’s do something crazy.”

Isaac’s eyes flickered up to look at his girlfriend,his head resting on her lap. The two of them had been watching an episode of some sitcom when the  teenage girl had suddenly spoken up.

“Like what?”

“I don’t know,” Sutton answered with a shrug, anexcited energy about her, “let’s take a road trip or something.”

“You mean ‘right now’?” The beta questioned, a smirk playing on his features.

“Yeah! Let’s do it.”

The grin on the blonde’s face was bright, stretchingacross her face, reaching her brown eyes.

“And what brought this on?”

“Maybe the fact that it’s summer and we’re just sitting around, doingnothing. All we’ve done really is watch Netflix and play with Peanut andRupert.”

It was true. The majority of their time-when Isaac wasn’t off with his alpha, looking into the weird, angular triskelion that neither of them knew that Sutton had knowledge of- had been spent binge-watching television series and bonding with their kitten child and Isaac’srecently acquired leopard gecko. (Derek, in a surprising act of friendship, hadgotten the younger man a pet after finding out he had never really had one. Theusually brooding werewolf had shrugged it off afterward, acting like it wasn’tthat big of a deal.)

“Okay- say your parents agreed to let you leave and would watch Peanut and Rupert, if Derek couldn’t take care of him… wherewould we go?”

Sutton faltered for a second before beaming onceagain.

“We could just get in the car and drive until we feltlike stopping somewhere.”

Isaac gazed at the girl in a mix of amusement and adoration.

“Do you really think that’s well-thought-out?”                        

The oracle quirked an eyebrow.

“Does that mean you don’t want to go?”

There was a moment of silence before-

Name: Camden Ryan Lahey II

Gender: Male

General Appearance: Camden received the finer facial features of his parents and his dad’s blue eyes. His brown hair is reminiscent of Isaac’s. His wardrobe consists mostly of reds, browns, and blues. He wears a lot of beanies, which makes Sutton think of Isaac’s scarves from high school. His typical footwear is a beat-up pair of Converse. He also wears three black leather bands around his left wrist.

Personality: Camden is more of the artsy, quiet type. That doesn’t mean that he’s a loner though; he has a close-knit group of friends that he considers family. He likes to listen to music and his headphones can usually be found hanging around his neck. He typically has a sketchpad in hand wherever he goes. He finds school to be difficult sometimes but he manages to get good grades. Camden also loves shows, books, and movies that deal with the supernatural- sometimes to make fun of the inaccuracies, other times because he’s genuinely interested in the lore.

Special talents: He’s a werewolf, which is kind of adorable because of his personality. (Isaac has taken what he learned from Derek and Scott, applying it to teach his son how to be in control; he also uses what he knows to teach Camden how to be a werewolf and still be the best person he can be.) He’s a valued member of the art club; he also helps paint and build sets for school plays/musicals. Camden can solve a Rubik’s Cube faster than anyone he knows, does backflips like nobody’s business, and can eat twice his weight in quesadillas.

Who they like better: He likes them both equally. His dad understands Camden’s personality because it’s a bit similar to his own; meanwhile, his mom simply adores him and does everything she can to be a great mother.

Who they take after more: Definitely Isaac. Camden isn’t as “in your face” and confident as his mom was in high school. He’s more of the laid-back yet lowkey sassy kid. Plus there’s the whole werewolf thing.

Personal headcanon: Camden’s family and friends have always been his anchor but he still struggles every once in a while during the full moon. After several months without a mishap, Isaac questions Camden about it. Turns out the younger Lahey has taken a liking to a girl at school. He kept it from his parents because even though he knew it was irrational, he was afraid that his parents would be disappointed in him; the girl he likes is considered a bit odd and he was afraid that Isaac and Sutton would have wanted him to find someone more popular, to mirror their own story. Isaac reminds his son that he isn’t living his parents’ story- they’ve worked to make life a lot more pleasant for him than it was when they were his age. They couldn’t care less if the person he has a crush on is popular or not. This conversation prompts Camden to come clean to his mother about his growing interest in his classmate. Needless to say, Sutton doesn’t care about the teenager’s social status- she’s ecstatic and wants to know everything about the girl.

who steals french fries off the other’s plate: They both do that but it’s hilarious when Lydia does it because Marlee will be like “DON’T TOUCH MY FOOD!” while trying to swat Lydia’s hand away; Lydia manages to get a few fries and looks at Marlee with a smug expression as she pops one into her mouth.

who jokingly moves in for the kiss when someone asks if they’re a couple: Marlee because her pansexual joker ass is ready for this kinda shit. Lydia either laughs as she puts a hand on Marlee’s face and pushes her away or she lets Marlee plant a kiss on her cheek.

who has to bust or bail the other out of jail: Lydia has to bust/bail Marlee out of jail, no doubt about it. It doesn’t happen often because Scott (supportive and faithful boyfriend) or Virginia (best mom ever/ “I want to talk to my lawyer!”) usually answer their phones but it has happened.

who gives the other advice/comfort about dating issues: Lydia definitely gives Marlee advice/comfort about dating issues. Marlee’s never really done the whole relationship thing before Scott and she has really conflicting thoughts when it comes to love- so there have been times where her brain has gone to “ABANDON SHIP!” And Lydia has to talk things through with her.

who shamelessly cheats at games by reaching over to cover the other’s eyes: Marlee absolutely cheats at games- she might not even cover Lydia’s eyes, she might just tackle her

who immediately calls dibs on the top bunk: Okay, Marlee would call dibs but she’s very courteous and will simply tell Lydia that will take whichever bunk that the redhead doesn’t want. (I mean, she did offer to sleep on the floor of the Glen Capri.)

who starts and who wins the pillow fights: Marlee Marlee Marlee- she is an aggressive lil shit who refuses to lose such things.
