Welcome to the Fight!
The beginning of Beverly Cooper's story. (Also I genuinely never write so hopefully this is cool)
Early on in the year 2184, Cadet Beverly Cooper was deployed to Malevelon Creek; Her first real mission. Everyone knew it would be a waste, sending new cadets immediately to their deaths down there in the Creek. Yet, the Automaton uprising was taking over quickly, and they needed all Helldivers on board down there as fast as they could.
She graduated the Helldiver's course training on Mars not long before, as the top of her class for medial aid, commonly earning the title Stim Support. Beverly was the first Helldiver in her family line since her great grandfather, 100 years before her. Everyone else she knew was in the SEAF, or keeping Managed Democracy in line in other ways. She was sent to Malevelon Creek to help her fellow Helldivers stay alive long enough to make a dent in the robotic scourage, and that's exactly what she aimed to do. No matter the circumstance, it was her job and she would do it well. They sent her down to the surface of the planet in a Hellpod, she had never truly experienced such a liberating rush. As she crashed onto the dirt and plants of Malevelon Creek, she was pushed out of her Hellpod with nothing but a Liberator, and her specialty, 6 stims she kept in her pockets, ready to use them on any Helldiver that needed it.
She kept herself quiet, until 2 more Hellpods rained down from the sky not 10 feet from her own body. Out jumped 2 more Helldivers, both cadets, just like her. She looked them both over: one more masculine, decorated well in grenades and a belt of Stratagems ready to take on the fight for Super Earth, and one more feminine, in armor colored much like their surroundings, able to blend in, and plenty of pockets to hold samples of the world around them so they may better understand it. They got introductions over fast, Cooper letting them know she always kept extra stims on top of the ones every Helldiver came on a mission with. Beverly learned that the demolitions expert was called Beeb, though she didn't have time to ask, and that the more camouflaged one was a field researcher, who wasted no time with pleasantries, and got them moving.
To say the least, the mission was a mess. Three cadets, fresh off of training, having little to no real mission experience, Beeb only outweighing them in experience by about a half hour Super Earth Standard Time. The Automatons had no care how new they were, and immediately open fired, and after that the trio had no choice but to brute force it, and throw everything to the crowds, rushing to finish each objective. Shockingly, though not many can say the same, they made it to the pelican with only minutes to spare before it left without them.
Upon their return to the SES Father of Starlight, the Super Destroyer where Cooper now lived, they learned more about each other. Field Researcher was incredibly smart, knew very much about the worlds they would one day see. Beeb shared how he was previously in the SEAF, before being told he would be a great Helldiver, and joining the fight more closely. Beverly shared how she was practically a first generation helldiver for their family, she was scouted for her skills in the medical practices, their newfound Democracy Officer personally deciding she would be great in helping Helldivers make the push to reclaim their stolen planets.
Firsts turned into 5ths, and 20ths, until they had spent months together, deployed wherever the Major Order from High Command took them. They had squashed bugs, and dismantled bots, and spread the good word of Democracy as a team for what felt like ages. Every injury was backed up by a hand from Stim Support Cooper, every explosion was planned by Beeb, and not a sample left behind by their beloved field Researcher. Cooper felt like she would dive forever with them as Team GOG, Grace of God. They grew close, not a time where the platoon was apart, they would never do a mission without the other, and not a failure of a mission in sight.
It would be like this until Super Earth freed the known galaxy with Liberty, right?
