Pit's hippie past may not be apparent at first glance, but there is more to him than just a bitter old curmudgeon. ☮️
Pit's life was strongly influenced by some traumatic event in his past. 💀
When his wife, who was already sickly, died a short time ago, Pit decided to bury her at the sea - against the wishes of her family. 🌊
After Sunny learns of the seriousness of her congenital heart defect, she runs away from an argument with her parents and joins a group of sprayers with whom she breaks into a small village store at night. ✨
The reckless break-in goes off the rails, however, and ends with a downed shopkeeper, a scattered group, and the approaching police. While Sunny is hiding in a rusty pickup truck, she bumps into gruff, washed-up hippie Pit, who surprisingly helps her escape when he notices the approaching officers. 🚨
It quickly transpires that Pit has stolen his wife's coffin in order to bury her by the sea against her family's wishes. When their car is stolen along with Sunny's medication, the two are forced to work together. ⚰️
Although Sunny is at her core a reserved, helpful and empathetic person, she struggles with her insecurities and self-doubts, which she often tries to compensate with outbursts. ✊
Since it is difficult for her to trust others, she expresses her thoughts through sketches and drawings. ✏️
Sunny is confronted with her worry about being a burden to people close to her right at the beginning of the story when she visits a doctor. She learns about the extent of her congenital heart defect and initially tries to run away from the consequences. 🖤
