🫣 WHAT

The Masters of the Universe Revolution cartoon (aka Season 2 to Revelation’s Season 1) on Netflix gave us flashbacks to He-Man’s grandfather King Miro talking with Queen Amelia about what to do with the young Keldor (while Randor and Keldor are hiding under a table, overhearing this).

The Queen saying Keldor should be with his own people, and Miro not wanting to essentially banish the boy from his kingdom.

The flashback ends with Keldor in present time explaining that after that day, he was shipped out to Anwat Gar island to be with his own kind.

Now the new comic miniseries by Dark Horse (also titled Masters of the Universe Revolution), acts as a prequel story with a focus on how Skeletor met Hordak. Written by Tim Sheridan, plot by Rob David and Ted Biaselli. Art by Daniel HDR and coloring by Keith Champagne.

Hordak seeks The Three Sisters inside the multi-dimensional Fright Zone, and learns of a prophecy that leads him to the Havoc Staff and Keldor.

I won’t spoil the comic too much, it has a couple neat twists. Go check it out - digital or get copies from your local comic shop!

By issue #4 (out of 4), the story begins with a flashback to a time (in part through Keldor’s memories that he witnesses over), when young Keldor was still at the Royal Palace. Playing with Randor and seemingly baby Panthor.

When I read the issue, I was shocked to see that King Miro was talking to a new character; the Royal Historian ISSAK(!) [my full name is Jukka Issakainen]

A character with a nod to my name and they have dialogue!!

And I honestly thought that maybe the character will only be seen from afar, or from angles that don’t show the face in detail.

So imagine my surprise when I turned the page and there was a big panel with my likeness!

HOLY SMOKES I’M A MOTU CHARACTER!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I still can’t believe this! 😃 Feel so surreal! Really honored for it and thankful to Tim Sheridan for including this reference! And a big thank you to artist Daniel HDR for making me look this good on the page!

The Masters of the Universe Revolution prequel comic ties into the Animated episodes, fleshes certain scenes out AND gives more context to Skeletor’s origin seen in the previous tie-in comic Revelation from 2021.

A Trade for this comic miniseries will come out January 2025.

Thanks to my habit of scanning every comic in high resolution, I’ve found a lot of easter eggs in Scarecrow comics. Scarecrow Year One is full of them, so allow me to share some with you guys~

This particular one isn’t much of an easter egg, but more of a nifty fact. In the second book we are introduced to Charlie Jaevis, Karen’s husband.

That's right, we are given a last name! While never directly stated by anyone, it’s actually posted on his farm’s mailbox. (click above image for a better look) To the untrained eye it might look like “Jarvis”, but I traced the image below. It’s definitely “Jaevis”. It looks like the name has Irish origins, although I found very few sources on that.
