"I introspected myself into a self-awareness so acute that it became self-delusion. Blame it on my youth, blame it on a culture that insists on stories of soulmates hearing each otherâs wordless thoughts without communicating like adults, blame it on my biases and beliefs. Romanticism was once considered an illness of poets and literary experts; marriages were based on whose slice of land was closest to yours and other practical matters like lineage and money.
So, then the question become, did my insecurities and unrequited passion inflame my desire for you and lead me to hype you up inside my head? Of course, so... that which is hard to get, is the hardest to forget for its merits and the easiest to forgive for its flaws."

Hi, again! I was going through your Ravi tag and you had this: "Au where super powers but Hakyeon has had his longer than any of the other but still canât controll them and Wonsik finds out he has a similar type of power and they try to help each other figure out how to control it." I was wondering if you could write it? Thanks!
Hello! Sure thing! This got a bit longer than I meant for it to.
They had all been friends for longer than any of them had had powers, with a few exceptions. And they all stuck together, even when things started changing.
It had only been Hakyeon at first, and he hadnât even realized he had powers at first. He certainly hadnât wanted to do it. But when his friends started pointing out how they could never seem to argue with Hakyeon when he was directly telling them about something, he started to wonder if there was something going on.
People having powers, and those powers manifesting later in their lives, wasnât unheard of. Usually it had really obvious results, though, which caused the people with them to get found out and⌠well people usually didnât stay around them very long after itâs reveled. So when Hakyeon did research on what was happening and realized he was accidentally pushing his will onto his friends, he thought they would hate him.
They didnât. Not really. He had made sure to tell them indirectly, done so through texts, so that he was sure he wasnât making them feel what he was hoping they would in reaction to it. And one by one they all said they still wanted to be his friend. Heâd learn to control it eventually, It would be fine.
One by one, though, over the next few years everyone else started gaining powers, learning to control them, even making new friends with them. But Hakyeon? He still couldnât control his. He felt like he was falling behind as his friends ran ahead and only Wonsik, who hadnât developed a power, was still at his level.
Then Wonsik started showing signs of a power.
While Hakyeonâs power was making people feel how he wanted them too, as long as he was telling them something related to feelings, and he felt guilty about it. Wonsikâs power was making people feel pain and he hated it.
Hakyeon hadnât realized he had his powers, when they first developed. But despite the similar way their powers worked, Wonsikâs were obvious the moment they started being a part of him. When he put a hand on Sanghyukâs shoulder in a friendly manner, and the younger doubled over in pain for no reason.
Hakyeon, despite not being able to control his powers, knew at least enough about projecting things onto others, like pain manipulation was, that he knew what was going on while everyone was still processing it. He ripped Wonsik away from the others, watching as immediately the pain stopped.
âEveryone calm down.â Hakyeon hardly ever tried to use his powers, they never seemed to work unless he didnât want them to, but for the first time they had in that moment. âIt seems like Wonsik has his power now.â
âWonderful,â Wonsik said, sarcasm dripping from it as he looked physically hurt by the realization of his power.Â
Despite Hakyeon being unable to control his power in most cases, he was still the one who had his the longest. He still had the most knowledge about how their powers worked, had done all the research, and had been the one to help everyone else come into their powers.
So he expected to do the same with Wonsik. Some part of him was sort of scared to, though, because then he really would be behind everyone else. But Wonsik was his friend, and he wasnât going to leave Wonsik to be scared of going near anyone when he knew how that felt.
âFirst, you need to figure out how your powers are triggered.â For Hakyeon it was speech, his words reached someone and his power let him use those words to instill his will. Or it would if he could control when it happened.
âHow do we figure that out?â Wonsik had never paid much attention when the others were learning, unless he was allowing himself to be a test subject for the more harmless powers.
âTrial and error, usually. But since you werenât trying to cause anyone pain, I doubt your power is thought or speech triggered.â Sure, once heâd gained control Wonsik would need to be thinking of it in order to use his power, but wanting someone to be in pain wasnât enough to make the power work, if Hakyeon was right.
âSo, something else that happened then?â
âWell, you did grab his shoulder, maybe touch is the trigger.â Hakyeon nodded to himself when Wonsik shrugged.
âGreat, so no more hugging anyone ever.â
âOnce you learn to control it youâll be fine.â Hakyeon was trying to be comforting but Wonsik didnât seem at all convinced.
âLike you?â Hakyeon reeled back at the question, physically showing signs of his discomfort. âI mean, you know better than anyone inducement powers are harder to learn.â
Wonsik wasnât wrong. Most cases of those types of powers had the users ending up isolated. Of course that was the case for a lot of powers, but with Inducement powers it tended to be the user that isolated themselves, because controlling their powers was too much.
âItâll be fine.â
âYouâre right.â Hakyeon frowned at the response, waiting a second until the agreement faded from Wonsikâs face. âAt least I hope.â
Hakyeon had a way heâd gone about helping everyone else figure out their powers, and Wonsik was supposed to be no different. Using your powers made it more clear in your mind how to control them. If Hakyeon had been able to use his powers at all when he was trying, that would have been the case with him, too. But since he hadnât, he never was able to control them.
Wonsik, on the other hand, could use his powers too easily. Sure Hakyeonsâ worked when he didnât want them to, but Wonsikâs powers worked if he tried even in the slightest and even when he didnât.
âAlright, plan B,â Hakyeon coughed, clearing his throat and stretching his arms. âInstead of having you see if you can use your powers, because clearly you can, letâs have you try not to.â
âTry not to?â
âYeah, just grab my arm,â Hakyeon held his left arm out, and Wonsik looked unsure, âIâll be fine. If there wasnât any threat of it going wrong you wouldnât have to learn how to use them, would you?â
He wasnât wrong, which was Wonsik reluctantly grabbed Hakyeonâs arm. For a moment they thought it was a success to start with. And then Hakyeon felt like heâd been hit by a truck and set on fire.
Wonsik, out of instinct, pulled back and Hakyeon hunched over trying to calm his breathing. âAre you okay?!â
âIâm fine,â Hakyeon shook his head, blinking until he could focus his eyes again. âAlright, letâs try that again.â
âNo.â
âWonsik.â Hakyeon sighed. He wished for once he could use his powers. âTrust me, Iâll be fine.â
He wasnât really expecting Wonsik to grab his arm again so easily when he held it out. At least this time he was expecting the pain that hit him in waves. Wonsik was concentrated, sure, but he seemed to be panicking the more Hakyeon looked like he was gong to pass out and his eyes became unfocused again.
âI canât do it,â Wonsik told Hakyeon, and loosened his hold on the others arm.
âJust calm down, youâre freaking out too much.â
The pain stopped, and for a moment Hakyeon thought Wonsik had let go of him. Until he raised his head, blinked away tears, and realized Wonsik hadnât. Wonsik, for his part, was staring on Hakyeonâs arm in disbelief.
âYou did it!â Hakyeon always felt really proud when things worked.
âI feel really calm,â Wonsik admitted.
Realization hit Hakyeon like a smack in the face.
âYou should be excited, you did it!â
âI am,â Wonsik sighed. âI mean when you told me to calm down⌠Telling people to calm down doesnât usually work, you know?â
As their âtrainingâ went on Hakyeon found himself, almost more often than Wonsik, being able to use and keep from using his powers.
âSo obviously,â Wonsik grinned, leaning back on his heels. âAll you needed was the greatest student, myself, to help you control your powers.â
âI think it had more to do with having similar powers, really.â Hakyeon shrugged, and Wonsik laughed in response.
