I honestly prefered the manga before it got super serious. Because it was so comedic before hand the sudden serious tone seemed really out of place. Other stories such as Senyuu and Beryl & Sapphire have an amazing balance between comedic and serious scenes, but I really don't think Nanbaka has that. It's still a series I thoroughly enjoy but I wish the serious moments weren't so sudden. They seem out of place
