#comedic value

Amy Poehler. I love you. I love you more than any person in show bidness. But here’s the thing. YOU are meant for television series. Not movies. I repeat, NOT MOVIES. I believe in you and love you so so much, but like every movie I’ve seen with you in it, is not great. However, every. single. episode. of Parks and Rec is incredible. I’ve seen every episode at least 5 times because it’s like my comfort show. 

Amy Schumer, I love you. I don’t love you as much as I love Amy Poehler, (but you’re next in line) (It goes, Amy Poehler, Amy Schumer, Amy Winehouse. That’s the order, no shade), but over the years, I’ve discovered that the same rule applies to you as well. Your TV show, absolutely incredible. I still watch it over and over again on Hulu. Your movies, not so much. And idk why. Maybe there’s not enough character development within a single movie. Where in a series, you fall in love with characters in completely different ways...over MANY hours of content. Not just 1.5 or 2 hours, start to finish.  

You two, are two comedic GENIUSES. Like you don’t understand how much I love and adore you, and quote you on the daily. I laugh my ass off at Parks and Rec, I laugh my ass off at Inside Amy Schumer. 

But everytime I see you guys in a movie, I’m disappointed. 

I HATE to criticize my IDOLS. But like this isn’t just a one time occurrence. I’ve bragged about how both of you are my comedic icons, and how much I love and respect you, to everyone in my life. They don’t see the hard work and longevity you put into your TV shows. And then people go see the movies (not the tv shows) and they’re like “Yeah it wasn’t great.”

And I’m like “WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU, IT’S AMY POEHLER/SCHUMER!?!?!?!?!?!? HOW FUCKING DARE YOU DISRESPECT THEM. IT WAS GREAT, YOU JUST HAVE NO TASTE”

And then I see the movie................ and I’m like oh.... ok I get it. 

Like you two babes are so fucking great and you have given me some of the deepest belly laughs of my entire life. And I’m so thankful for you both. I own books from you both. I LOVE you. I’m not trying to shit post you. I just think your very unique and relatable style of comedy is best showcased in an episodic series, rather than a movie. I guess that’s my theory. 

Hell, do what you want my friends. You’ve made an incredible career for yourselves and I’m very proud of you. But Amy, and Amy, maybe consider a Netflix series, instead of a movie. Y’all would kill it.
