As a teacher, Ben hated Wednesdays. They were by far the worst day of the week. Not only did he have test prep during his lunch, he got roped into bus duty. He was pissed that he’d be too late to meet Quinn at her bus stop this afternoon, but luckily his neighbor who happened to be Viv’s brother, Colt, was able to watch her for a little while.

Ben got off the elevator and quickly stopped his whistling when he heard loud music coming from his apartment. He smiled to himself and reached to unlock the front door. When he opened it, he was relieved to see Quinn in one piece with a huge smile across her face. He smiled gratefully in Colt’s direction. When Quinn realized his presence, she raced over and wrapped her arms around his waist. Ben chuckled and ruffled her hair. “What have you two been up to?” As he asked this, Jicama nosed the back of his leg and Ben squatted down to greet her as well.
